To be honest i'm not. I was expecting more of a 2-1 series, but going back to last year, San Jose has won 11 of the last 13 meets against the two teams, and the previous 7 wins have been one goal wins, 4 of which went into overtimes.

I used this stat to predict the Sharks taking the win, and it looks like that will be the case. The Sharks have the Wings number, because they can get into Howard's head. The trick is to pepper shots on him, and don't let Detroit score 4 or more goals. Whenever Detroit scores 4 goals they win.

Too bad that Vancouver won, I wanted Nashville to win as many games so the small hockey market could grow. Maybe they can force a game 6

Seeing the fans there (give or take a thousand or so Canucks fans) makes me optimistic about hockey in Nashville. That was their 6th consecutive sellout, and they're not exactly a rarity there anymore. Even during the regular season.
The Preds' success over the past 7 seasons or so has taken a tiny hockey market and shown what steady success can do. Of course, the one counter to this is Phoenix, but they'll always be the Jets to everyone.

And tonight, two more teams have a chance to sweep. Boston and San Jose could punch their tickets to the conference finals tonight, so check things out!

Bruins faithfuls hope this won't be a repeat of last year... and the Sharks look to dump the Red Wings in the most unceremonious (and rare for the famed Detroit team) fashion.

BOS/PHI: Philly's done! Boston doesn't waste any time in completing the sweep this year, blasting Philadelphia 5-1.

DET/SJ: Helm scores with under 90 seconds to avoid overtime, and the Wings are around for at least one more session of hockey this year! Can you dig it?

Hahahahhaa, wow. I can join us Philly pickers in shame.

Out of the 14 participants this round, the record was: 7-7. Wow. Dead even.

A.) Was it so lame when Chicago swept San Jose in the Conference Finals last year? =P

B.) AUGH! SOMEONE HURRY UP AND RUN OVER JOEL WARD.
Pekka Rinne stands on his head, and while Ryan Kesler activated Beast Mode yet again, a very bad goal by David Legwand and a 3rd period run by Ward gives Nashville hope and we're going back to Music City.

I never thought of comparing records of both teams when playing one another.. just based the unpredictability off the Wings having such a great team year in, year out and the Sharks not being the best team when it comes to the playoffs (a few chokes in the past couple years)

Nashville gets extremely lucky with that second goal tonight which boosts them to a win and pushing the series to game 6.

Rinne eh?

My hope is that the Red Wings will make a miracle happen and come back from the brink of hell to beat the Sharks.

DET/SJ: ...god damnit San Jose. You don't want to win this series do you.

Detroit survives with three 3rd period goals and force another game back in Detroit on Tuesday.

Detroit has won 59 consecutive games when they score 4 or more goals. Can't let 'em get that magic number

As much as that may be the favoured, I'm leaning towards a Vancouver/-Tampa Bay final.
In which case, I'm breathing easy. Nothing against Bolts fans, but in the pre-season, I was bored had a "season" with hockey cards where each card earned one point, etc.
Anyway, in the final, T-Bay faced Van City where Vancouver took it.

Kinda retarded, but it's looking more and more likely.

Let's make sure that the series actually finish and we know we face each other before we make such rash decisions. I have a strange feeling that Nashville will either win tonight by a slim margin, or lose by a large margin.
