songs you find hard but are easy for others (and vice versa)

Isn't it annoying when everyone else can seemingly play a song with ease, while you always struggle with it? Regardless of your skill level, there's usually a number of songs that doesn't seem to click with you, while everyone else passes you up.

So I'm curious! List songs that you find difficult (either to PA, AAA, FC, whatever) but seems to be a breeze for everyone else. Tell me why you find them hard.

Conversely, also tell me which songs you find easy to play but everyone else seems to struggle on for some weird reason.


For myself, I've just AAAed Exciting Hyper Highspeed Star today, a song which is "very easy" for people of my skill level. But it took me so long to do this. The song just never wanted to give me the AAA. A similar scenario goes for Eradication. HOW is this song easy for everyone? The speed and the awkward patterns of polyrhythms with anchors is very difficult to perfect, yet I constantly see this being AAAed. Both songs's "easyness" are also refleted in the level ranks.

On the other hand, Klungkung was a song that I found pretty easy to play, even back in 2007, while most others seem to have difficulty in. Also, songs with minijacks I can play fairly easily, while I still fail to understand why people tend to be so handicapped at them.

Easy for me, hard for others:

EHHS: I guess I am just good at jumpstream, but I honestly think I could AAA this 90 times out of 100. Can't say that about too many FMOs.

Pants: Same as above, jumpstream is easy.

He's a Radical Rat: Not sure why but I just have no trouble PAing this one. I can AAA pretty darn consistently, but I can see why a lot of people want this to be a 12.

Of course you need me and need me: Easiest FMO in D2 besides EHHS, and I am not kidding.

Hard for me, easy for others:

Club: I don't think I even need to explain this one.

Holy Orders: Simply cannot keep up with the trill.

300: Holy **** those split jumps rape me, still can't AAA.

Molto Vivace: Ok, no one finds this song easy.... but I find it super hard. Hardest 12 in the game for me EASILY with the exception of maybe 2 or 3 others.

Mermaid Island: Yuck, mid 12 to me.


I am sure there are lots more, but I just don't feel like thinking that hard

Perfect Cherry Storm: I just can't get those 32nds without coming out with a cluster of goods, averages, and boos.

I don't find that many files hard for me but easy for others (at my skill level), but I never really tried.
Mephisto Waltz: I'm bad at polyrhythms, especially when it's a jack with some grace notes in them.
Slashmaid (Instrumental): Very bad at it overall, lol. I'm terrible at jacking in that file for some reason.
Scrap Syndrome: **** you subin
Husigi Usagi Milk Tei: omg wall omg jumpjacks why
Grand Galop Chromatique: LONG


Though I find a LOT of files that are easy for me and hard for others...
Here We Go: I'm really good at one hand-biased stuff, haha.
Almost There: I'm pretty good at that file for some reason, I don't know why lmao.
RATO: Files like that are kinda right up my alley since I played this file quite a lot, and I'm pretty good when it comes to fast bursts and all.
Schmollbluk: I don't know if I'm just good at this file, or everyone is just bad at it. I can get mid SDG half the time, but I don't know if it's normal for me or not lmao.
La Campanella: Probably one of the more obvious ones, lol. I'm decent at trilling, good enough to handle the trills in La Camp.
A Quick Death: Like Schmollbluk, I don't know if I'm just good at the file, or everyone is bad at the file. I'm almost certain I can snag a 2 good run on it, and I get high SDGs on command.
Rave7: The 300 BPM part isn't really my best strength... but the second half sure is.

Songs I find harder:
Big Blue - Particularly bad at the 22 minijacks and blocked at the [34]23[12] 24ths on mirror. I always get a miss somehow haha.
Blue Rose - For someone at my skill level, it is surprising that I cannot SDG this at all. Those jumpjacks are ridiculously stamina-draining haha.
Counter Clockwise Chant Pattern and grind2 - Very hard for me since these files aren't straightforward and are hard to understand where the steps are mapped to haha. There's no way I can break 20 clean on both of them.
Grand Galop Chromatique - Hahaha I don't know why I'm so bad at this, but I should be at the level where I'm low SDGing this file.
Starwolf - I desperately need the luck to AAA this file hahaha. That blackflag run was purely luck and I got the good from college wifi's lag.

There are a lot of files that I find harder than others, but those are the most surprising ones that I can think of.

Files that I find easier:
Necropotence - Timing the jumptrilling is the hardest part but once you nail this down, it's not so bad. The patterns before each roll isn't too difficult if you focus on specific notes.
Canary Part V - The jumpstream is the hardest part of the file for me. Seriously haha.
Kidney Stone - Jumpchainstreams aren't too tricky for me. I just need a better keyboard to nab the AAA because I'm sure I can haha.
Molto Vivace - Not so hard once you nail the beginning tricky parts of the song. I'm somewhat consistent with rolls but I have my bad days too haha.
Mephisto Waltz - The beginning is the hardest part, but it's not terribly tricky if you put some attention on it.

I'm really going on where my ranks are relative to the rest of the FFR community for these choices, as well as others in my skill level.

Songs that are hard for me but easy for others:

Reality - I suck so bad at really long streams that are faster than 250 bpm. The jumpgluts are also a pain to hit consistently. Still have yet to FC it.

Ambient Angels - I'm not very consistent when dealing with fast, dense JS. I feel like I have to mash the ending just to FC it.

4 Chord Touhou - Again, inconsistency on fast, dense JS. One of the few FMO's I have played that I've yet to FC.


Songs that are easy for me but hard for others:

Club - Even when I was struggling to FC any FMOs, this was the one I always had a great score on. The jacks are slow enough that I can hit consistently; the jumpgluts mixed in aren't so bad and the patterns repeat themselves. It made sense that this became my first FMO AAA.

Blooddrunk - After playing it for a while, I could do the one-handed trills with little to no mistakes. The rest of the file is VC-ish. My best score is 6g, which I'm told is almost D6 material.

K8107 - Again, one-handed trills are no problem for me at that speed. And after playing it for a while, I can read the ending JS well enough to get a good score.

300, Rottel-da-Station, and The Adventures of Lolo.. these three goddamn songs seem to be f***ing cake for everyone but me.

Songs I seem to find myself good at whereas hard for others? I would say Dead and Direct, Largiloquent Dithyramb, and Reality.
