I really really really don't like the OoT Medley. Like almost all medleys, it takes every single tune out of context and the whole thing is just sloppily put together. And it sounds horribly cheesy. The arrangement for Song of Storms is much better, although it still suffers a little from too much instrumentation.

I like the rest of the music in the game though. (e.g. **** YEAH METAKNIGHT)

I'm kind of disappointed that nobody mentioned the

Brawl version of the opening for Melee

Sort of abrupt at the beginning, but I love it.

Oh, baby. It comes from a game that I've never heard of, but what a gem.

Actually, I wasn't really too keen on the opening theme song. Don't get me wrong, I love it, it just doesn't have the punch that the previous two opening songs did, in my opinion.

It's called speculation, you jerk. Almost this entire thread is speculation. In fact, even now, most of it REMAINS speculation, and even in the coming weeks when it actually comes out stateside, I would venture to say that it will remain composed largely of speculation still.

Oh and by the way, there are only two "ignorant" things of my post. First, there is the fact that I didn't understand that some characters could wall cling indefinitely, mostly because I know that them having that power would be very cheap and I wouldn't expect the designers to shoot themselves in the collective foot like that. But now I know how it is. The second thing is my questioning, saying that I had thought that all characters gained an ability like this. But now I know how it is.

How can you call someone ignorant when they're learning? And really, how am I supposed to learn things about a game I have never played? I'm going to ask questions and talk about it. Duh.

ps that Melee opening song is missing the high pitched tweedling. You know what I'm talking about.

EDIT: from the escapist article someone linked to:
Quote:
an exploiter is just another person who simply wants to win more than you do.
And they seriously tried to justify it that way. I guess hackers in online games just "want to win more than you do" too. So they deserve it? Also, the article said short hopping was an error of programming. Is this correct? I'd say a good sign of it being an intended function of gameplay would be it being present in Brawl.

Short hopping isn't a glitch. It's in the official moveslist for Brawl.

An interesting exploit has been found in the Japanese version of Brawl where you can perform a back aerial attack (called a 'bair'), while moving forward. While dashing right, quickly press the left, jump, right, A. It probably works with the c stick as well.

Some other interesting things have been found as well. At least two of the characters can perform an infinite number of jumps without hitting the ground.

I wish people would just enjoy the game rather than seeking out these useless exploits.

Edit: I just watched through them, and they don't have a pratical use. Snakes "infinite" jump is easily broken, and Kirby's and Bowsers are useless. These people are streching for "glitches".

Does this really matter?

Also: I think I do this stuff all the time. Back air attacks while moving forward. Pikachu's back air attack is **** in Melee so I don't use it as much, but I know for sure I did it ALL the time in N64.

All characters should be able to get back to the stage anyway. The distance of their jumps should be enough that they can make it back to the level from the farthest to the side possible without dying.

If you're worried about them abusing it to fight, I say: why worry? They could just jump ANYWAY, and them having to constantly do this just to never touch the ground for some reason is just wasted effort mostly.

None of this is a big deal, and those of them which could potentially be a problem if people choose to be bastards (like Falco's infinite shot), a simple following of an unwritten rule of "don't cheat" would cover it effectively.

EDIT: giga jigglypuff is rofl

Can't you recover out of the infinite laser or does the stun block you from doing any recovery moves?

Be that a dodge, an Up Air, etc.

The idea is you do a back air while having full forward momentum. It might mean **** for Pikachu, but characters like Samus and Yoshi with very good back airs can benefit from it as it gives them quicker and more effective use of the move.

Like I said, I haven't done it much since N64, but is there really that much loss of momentum?

I know there's a large loss of momentum if you try that in Melee since it'll treat your jump as a regular backward jump that has less momentum than a forward jump by default, but I haven't played 64 in a while so I can't say.

Heh, I remember when I was like, 7 going home, playing Super Smash Bros. with friends, until that fateful day I found out how to unlock Ness, but I still used Pikachu the most. It's ridiculous getting him, beat the story mode with Kirby with 3 lives on Normal mode, :/

Um... You don't need to play as Kirby. You could have just played as any character you wanted

That was figured out like 2 days after it came out in japan. I was doing it while playing today. My friend knows A LOT of "explots" or stuff part of the game(who knows) and can work as mind games or create combos. He won't tell any of them though.
