Song Timers

If we fail at some point during a song, could we have a time show up on the summary page that tells us how far we got through the song, and then maybe also put the song length on there too?

the subbie version recently got an in-game timer. for non-subbies, you can compare how many notes you hit vs the total notes in the file... should give you a good indication.

It will be really cool if we can choose to have the timer to be on the top OR the bottom .. . . cuz it's different for every player. . .

What? I see no timer.. Or am I missing something..

It's right under the FFR stats bar near the bottom of the screen. If you glance quickly at it while playing a song, you should see it changing from a black bar to a blue bar in a meter-like fashion.

Just curious, but what would an in-game timer do? I don't really see much point in it.

Well, if you were to be playing a really long song like FFLBF and you're thinking "OMFG WHEN WILL THIS END?!", you quickly glance at the time measurer to tell you how far you are through the song.
I personally don't care for it's location now, but it doesn't really matter cause I don't use the beta.

The in-game timer would be good, but what about a display at the end of a song that shows how long you lasted using minutes and seconds. Not just a bar that changes color.

It's generally assumed that one is only caring about songs they can actually pass. No song is really both long and hard enough to need to code a functionality to tell you "Oh, you only made it this far before failing"

check the subbie thread for discussion about the song timer... it's in very early beta in terms of a feature.

and... why? because people have asked for it. people like it in ITG. *shrugs*. some people care about having that stuff. when it becomes public, it'll be a feature you can enable/disable, for sure.
