Imo close setups are better on the joints

I play x2... It shouldn't be so fast that you cant read in time to hit a perfect without being all stressed out and it shouldn't be so slow that you can't read or hit perfects.
btw, C1000 is like 3x no? I've tried it on stepmania but its like impossible... how does alexdest play on that speed?

AlexDest plays with Hallway. Overhead is a different story when it comes to the speed changes but it is the default setting.
I play pretty high speeds on Distant since I removed the score border thing at the bottom.
I used to play C870 now it's C900 Distant, which is around C750 on Overhead.

Speaking of that, that is like 2.1 on FFR.

Hmmm, I fluctuate between 1.85x and 2.0x, I haven't converted to spread yet, haven't found anything I'm comfortable with. I'm definitely no expert at this game, but I've been around for a while and I've watched people improve on their skills just by changing up a few things, the more new tricks you learn the better you get at this game.

You never knew?

Being a mod gives you -30 goods.
And being Synthligh gives you +15 goods on any blue note song no matter what.

I play as56. I'm gonna have to disagree with you for a little who_cares, i find close setups like sdjk or askl harder for some reason, my hands play songs so much easier when they are parallel and in a comfortably straight position, so while my left hand play AS, my right hand sits comfortably on the numpad hitting 56. when i play askl my right arm is awkwardly tilted inward to the keyboard and it uncomfortable.

Same

But I need to up it a notch soon so that I might actually get my first FMO AAA since I seem to get close all the time. I might change it to 1.75 over the summer and practice it.

I play left arrow key, down arrow key, 5/2, 6/3. And I have my keyboard tilted like this \

Cheating in my case would be putting the Judge to 1...
and doing all sorts of stuff in the Stepmania.ini lol.

It's personal preference. The timing window doesn't magically increase when you switch to hallway, just saying.

I use 1.5, but 1.75 is probably best, I just haven't adjusted to that speed yet

my current speed setting is x1.875, but of course there is some variety to that. i usually bump up the speed as i get comfortable with a d10 (or 9, 11 whatever) that merits a bit more space between the arrows.

currently i play a x,d (left, up) l,p (down, right) setup on my laptop but i haven't heard anyone that plays a spread anything like it haha ><

I played on 2x for like a year but now I think I like 1.95x better... just found that out after playing around with speeds last week

Complete Preference.

I remember a time with no speed mods, and the best players had to cut the screen down much like the sudden mod will do for you now. I have seen as high as 2.2x and as low as 1.5x and i currently play at 1.9x.

You should make it as high as you can without struggling to keep up, it will make the arrows easier to read.
