Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Submissions CLOSED)
I'm sorry, but the "no one gets paid for this" and the whole "we're volunteering our time for this" is a stupid excuse. Just because you're volunteering your time doesn't mean you have to not meet a deadline. Contrary to what people might believe, but volunteering at a job site doesn't exclude you from deadlines, just saying.
also, Sara might have been a last-ditch choice at the time, but she's proven that she knows how to judge a file and can easily serve as a primary judge her first batch and on. Saying that she's only on the team because she hasn't done anything stupid like buizel and is lucky that she hasn't been kicked off is asinine. but yeah, enough about this garbage. This is something that needs to be discussed in the simfile judgment area. I'm legitimately ticked about this situation and will voice my opinion pretty harshly once I have the time. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Submissions CLOSED)
In all honesty Sara is probably more qualified to do this than I am, not that I'm particularly qualified though. The only reason I got brought on is BECAUSE of buizel's idiocy. bmah needed another helper and asked me since I was judging for DF at the time; I didn't have much experience either. So, yeah, you can argue that most of the judges aren't qualified or are moldy bread or whatever, but we need people to do the job and at least our bread isn't so moldy that you couldn't feed it to ducks.
This metaphor is kinda falling apart but I think you all get what I mean. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Submissions CLOSED)
Yeah seriously he was just trying to picture how delays of today don't matter becauee they're about a week long, whereas with Tass they were a year long, so complaining about this makes us ungrateful and trying to find solutions serves no real purpose. Not an argument, that's two different things.

I meant more like it's not like you wanted the judges to judge your stuff, but admins wants the judge team to do it for them. They have a reason to have something against people not meeting the due dates, and they also happen to have powers in that respect. The rest of the community? Out of their business imo, at least when it's beyond voicing opinions, this is a debate that will have no outcome and that has lasted for days now.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Submissions CLOSED)
I'm actually quite relaxed believe it or not. I know my wording doesn't come off as such usually though lol. I just don't see the point in not allowing backups to do their job so that we're not 4 days late or however many it ends up.

Earning your respect is the equivalent to trying to earn respect from my kitchen table. It's not something I should ever attempt doing.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 (Submissions CLOSED)
Instead of looking at who did and who didn't make the deadline at the moment of the deadline, communicate with the judges in the process.
Send a (bi)weekly PM or contact them on Skype or whatever, just so you know how the current situation stands. Ask who's falling behind, why they're falling behind, when they think they will be done, why they didn't do what they promised, etc. It's way too soon to call this site a company, but for crying out loud, get your stuff organized. Or you can think this idea too formal and just deal with it. Just expect drama on every batch.
