Default Has your FFR skill transferred to other aspects of life?

I'm just curious as to what else ffr has helped you with. I've been a member of this site for a little over 7 years now, and although very inactive for a large part of it, I played religiously for a first couple of years. My FFR "hand-eye coordination" seemed to transfer over to another video game called MotorStorm: Pacific Rift where I am actually #2 overall. I've spent probably a good 4 years on that game as well, but I think FFR really helped me realize my potential. It also has helped my drumming considerably through high school, as sight-reading drumming is a cake walk comparison to sightreading masters only files here haha. I guess overall it didn't really help me in other areas, but I'm just curious to what you guys have to say about it. I promise I won't keep making random postwhore threads like this lol.

I don't know if there is any proof of it but I think it would be interesting if a study could have been done with games like this to see if parts of the brain are stimulated in a way that normal everyday reality fails to accomplish. This could result in an increase in creativity, concentration/focus, and coordination in other non related activities. Besides this, it would be cool if learning how to read complex patterns and sequences of arrows at rapid speeds could be translated into other activities in life knowingly or unknowingly.

Edit: I forgot to mention that besides the fun I find in the game, I really think it is contributing to a greater form of dexterity for me that is translated into my movements and ideas with cards.

Edit Edit: Haha, I was just AAAing another song and I had an idea to add: FFR also helps you develop and appreciate patience. AAAing definitely requires a form of discipline and patience.

Good job in seeing correlations between skills like this.

I had half a mind to make a topic in Critical Thinking about this some time ago, but felt like it would be a waste of my time since it'd just be speculation, and I can roughly predict the reactions I would get.

If anything, I find myself making more mistakes when I type because my brain wants me to smash it out as fast as I can but my fingers aren't hitting the same four keys over and over.

I hear music in another way, like the different levels of sound. And most of the time, I dance as if I'm stepping a file.

I notice my PA is a little better after practice saxophone, I'm not sure if it goes the other way around though.

All I learned from having FFR skill is that I have a powerful ability to Terage and break my computer over songs, and convince everyone around me that I'm a clumsy computer-dropping oaf. No one knows it's over FFR, lul

More like the other way around for me. Existing skills translate into FFR skills.

Patience? Already had amazing patience.
Hand-eye coordination? Already had plenty.
Quick-thinking reflexes? Already existed.

Only things that seem to be holding me back are some kind of I guess arthritis that mainly seems to crop up in my index finger, my keyboard, and my computer.

Does FFR count as calisthentics? If so, it's increased my endurance for them. If not, then... welp. :P
