You can be as consistent as you want and this game will still **** with you. It's about knowing that blasted chart well enough, if you know where everything is you can prepare for it.

Actually I'm the opposite. I'm a lot better at songs early on if I don't have it after 50 plays it takes me forever to get. Mindblocks everywhere.

I have only ever found two charts where this is the case for me.

Vertex Beta and Strange Program. Ironically both are charts I could never fc Index.
