Velocity Engine
Hey guys, I've noticed that playing on the new velocity engine makes the game lag a lot more than the original version. The velocity engine is of course a million times better and I'd much rather play on it but most of the time it is laggy for me. I have a brand new computer with an i7 and gtx 460 amongst other things so I don't think it's my computer. I seriously doubt it's the internet connection because I was downloading a movie earlier at 1.4 MB/s and was playing other flash games that had no lag whatsoever. I never play with any other programs open while playing FFR. Is there some way to tweak flash to make FFR run better for me? I need help.

Re: Velocity Engine
are you playing it on a flash player or an internet browser? If you are playing playing on firefox, ie, etc. then I think that's your problem.

Re: Velocity Engine
Is there a way to make the game window smaller? I have trouble playing when the game is that large? Is there a way to re-size it?

If you re-size the window, it should re-size it.

Re: Velocity Engine
regardless, it's laggy. I play on a standalone and it's terrible. The lag is so bad you can't AAA any song

Re: Velocity Engine
Yeah, it still lags in the stand alone player. I don't know a lot about coding but is it possible that the velocity engine could be edited to be more efficient? Obviously the work done so far is amazing, and I know that the engine is being improved every day but is possible that coding could be causing the lag? I'm not trying to whine about it, because I'm going to play regardless, I just wanted to see if there was a known reason for the lag. Thanks for your help so far. I have nothing but praise for the work being done since the site came back. Keep it up.

Re: Velocity Engine
Actually, I was lag-free for a while here but I also eventually started lagging much more out of nowhere with standalone. Not freezes, just frameskips from time to time.

To OP, Download Gamebooster, Change to Classic theme instead of Aero, as well as playing in the standalone. I rarely get lag, like, once a week or something. And I mean a single lag spike. |

Re: Velocity Engine
It happens, and I have no way to force it to happen nor fix it. Just ignore it and restart the standalone.

Re: Velocity Engine
I might be crazy, but the velocity engine seems to love to crash whatever it's running in. I tried running it in the standalone, I use chrome as my main browser and it crashes both near the beginning of songs pretty frequently. It's always as soon as I hit a key, so I think the bug might reside in key press code, or the arrow hit event code.

Re: Velocity Engine
I dump random goods on Velo's engine, and it's really slow when you're in let's say, Dance 2, and you hit the arrow to change genres, it takes a while. It's faster on the Legacy engine, nevertheless; It's a good improvement to the original, I just wouldn't prefer it.

Re: Velocity Engine
Gotta new problem for ya Vel.
I open up the .swf in flash player 9 and everything's going good. But then I see that I'm not logged in, how to fix? all my setting are the same and everything works just fine, it's just that I'm not logged in. |

Re: Velocity Engine
You need to login using Internet Explorer, if your on Vista or Windows 7, you also need to disable "Protected Mode" in the settings. Just read the topic on using a standalone.

Re: Velocity Engine
Have you done all of the necessary steps to be logged in on the standalone (logged into IE, protected mode off, remember me, etc.)?
If you're logged out of IE, log back into it and make sure you check "Remember Me". If it doesn't work after that, then you might have something to show to Velocity. EDIT: ninja'd like hell, lol |
