Re: Mosquito Noise - Can You Hear It?
Yeah that's what I'm currently hearing on this computer haha. I'll have to try this on a different computer and different set of headphones too probably.

Re: Mosquito Noise - Can You Hear It?
Clearly heard it up to 20 KHz on max volume. Not sure if I'm actually hearing the 21 KHz one or just me imagining things.

Re: Mosquito Noise - Can You Hear It?
As for a single distinguishable tone, up to 19khz. After that it is loud clicks and pops only with my hardware.
I wouldn't blame anyone for retaliating against stores that tried using "sound deterrent" technology though. If a store owner wants to be a socially irresponsible jerk and implement such a scheme, I will not care in the slightest if he/she ends up with broken windows, broken doors, looted or broken merchandise, etc... They'll get no pity from me. I understand not wanting your stuff stolen, but this is not the way to go about it. If I was on a jury and the accused was accused of vandalizing a building that implemented such a system, I'd say not guilty. If I was the judge, I'd dismiss the case. |

Re: Mosquito Noise - Can You Hear It?
the 21 and 22 are crystal clear to me although 16 was a little hard to hear and 20 was inaudible, idk how that works exactly
clicks werent that bad for me and theyre definitely distinguishable from the tone

Re: Mosquito Noise - Can You Hear It?
Got up to 21 khz. Was unsure as to whether or not I was truly picking it up until 22 khz came on and it suddenly turned dead silent.
I'm 20 if that matters any. |

Re: Mosquito Noise - Can You Hear It?
Could hear up to 22 khz (although 22 khz is very very faint) on the computer I am currently on, and with different headphones. It's definetely hardware dependant. If your soundcard or headphones can't output the frequency all you'll hear is a bit of crackling.
edit: I'm 22 btw

Re: Mosquito Noise - Can You Hear It?
I heard up to 16khz and I'm 16 years old (closing in on 17).
All those years in band really have damaged my ears. *checks Volume Mixer* Oh, my sound card just sucks. It can't play 17khz or higher.

Re: Mosquito Noise - Can You Hear It?
I am 21 and I can barely hear 16khz.
I guess that is from going to a lot of band practices and performances that my dad does. (My dad has been playing in a local band before I was born and he still does it.) |

Re: Mosquito Noise - Can You Hear It?
20khz is my max. For some reason the 17khz and 17.4khz I could BARELY hear listening closely, but then 18khz and 19khz were loud and clear!

Re: Mosquito Noise - Can You Hear It?
Couldn't hear anything over 16khz, and I thought gj hearing, rip, but now I think it has more to do with the frequency response of my earphones, because I remember hearing up to 21-22khz when I tried this last year.
I'll hook up a sound system and give it another go later. |

Re: Mosquito Noise - Can You Hear It?
Wow, I could barely hear 17 and 17.4 khz. Then 18 and 19 were really easy to hear and I could hear 22 as well. Yay!

Re: Mosquito Noise - Can You Hear It?
I was always skeptical about sound waves on youtube. Considering files get converted when you upload how can you be sure the frequency is the same once uploaded (idk I'm just hypothesizing.. I should look into this more, I imagine someone already proved me right/wrong).
I've thought this since I learned about binaural beats (which I've been very interested in since), however I've always wanted to be sure I'm hearing exactly what I'm meant to rather than some distortion, which could essentially yield a completely different result, if any result at all (aside from placebo xd). Anyways I could hear up to 16 very clearly, could definitely hear both 17 and 17.4 faintly, after that I had to turn my speakers up, and at that point how can I be sure it's not just my head/speakers messing with me. I'm fairly sure headphones would help out but w.e I can hear and that's really all I care about for now. |
