Zelda: Ocarina of Time
This is still one of my favorite games to date.
I feel like it does a lot of things very well -- a simple story, great gameplay, easy to master mechanics, decent graphics/colors, memorable music, fun characters, long gameplay, innovation, expansive worlds, diverse/memorable dungeons, adequate difficulty, fun bosses, and loads of sidequests/minigames. What were your favorite aspects about OoT? |

Re: Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Well, since you took everything I enjoyed I'll reiterate some points:
- Simple, yet captivating and involving storyline. - The music. It follows me still today. - Great character design, most NPCs and especially most bosses are very memorable. - Well executed difficulty curve. Never too easy, never too challenging. - Lots of sidequests / content. Having fun getting all heart containers and golden bug thingies (don't remember the name, it's been ~10 years) without a guide (which ruins games such as these imo) I must grab the remake once I come back in 2 weeks. I also have been enjoying the influx of VG-related threads. Keep it up. |

everything
i loved everything about OoT and still play through it every once in a while. i still remember getting stuck in the deku tree for 4 hours because it never occured to me to jump from the top to break the spider web in the center. OoT is actually why i really want this as my first tattoo

Re: Zelda: Ocarina of Time
This was actually the very first video game that I've ever played on a console (got it when I was about 8 or 9). I bought an N64 a couple years ago to play the game for nostalgia reasons, and I'm getting a pimped-out TriForce tattoo specifically because of the game (still working on the design, though).

Every part of this game had amazing qualities. I have spent so much time just playing through the game. Beating it about 45 times.

Re: Zelda: Ocarina of Time
When I was growing up, I played this game for countless hours. Since I was relatively young, the game was quite challenging to me and I found myself stuck a lot.
My love everything about the game, but the music was one of my favourite parts. I used to have songs like the Lost Woods Theme stuck in my head for what seemed like forever, even if I hadn't played the game in a long time. The dungeons were fun, but as I grew older they became a lot more fun since I didn't have as much trouble with them. My personal favourite was the Water Temple, and then the Spirit Temple. The side quests were really fun to do, like the mask shop side quest. I found myself trying to find the running man near the Lon Lon ranch for almost 2 hours... The bosses were always memorable, and sometimes scared the living shit out of me since I was so young (around 8 years old). My favourite boss was Volvagia, the Fire Temple's boss. This game is by far my favourite game of all time. Nothing can compete with it. |

Re: Zelda: Ocarina of Time
It's such an immersive storyline and the amount of things that can be done in the game apart from the sheer basics needed to complete the game were AMAZING for it's time, and even now. I love the way that it doesn't give you hints, it leaves you to figure out new things on your own, but they aren't things that are necessary to beat the game.
Also, I just received The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D Official Soundtrack in the mail today. It contains 51 tracks at 1.2 hours or time.

Re: Zelda: Ocarina of Time
I'm still waiting on my OoT: 3D soundtrack, but I recently beat the main story on it, and everything from the original is still there.
Still in it's excellent glory. Every character, every sidequest, every heart, etc. Also, I made sure to finish each sidequest, although I missed 24 Gold Skulltulas by the time I beat Ganon. |

Re: Zelda: Ocarina of Time
I'm a big fan of this game. I would love nothing more than to see this remade for the Xbox360, but that will never happen. I don't want to hear about how this has/is being remade for some new Nintendo product, I expect this to have happened and I have no intention of playing on one of those consoles. Aside from the amazing graphics they could make for this game now, I would love to use a newer controller, I was never a big fan of the original for this game, despite the fact the control scheme was designed pretty much perfectly for this controller.

Did you do any of the side quests or did you just finish the game?
