Anyway, trying out one more file for this. I know Puppet tested it, but I don't know what to do with it now and it never hurts to get more opinions.

a lot of stuff felt off. i wasn't really sure what was going on most of the time. it didn't seem like the kind of file you'd make since usually you're pretty spot-on for accuracy

Re: Stepmania University: We'll make your files suck less (under construction)
its pretty difficult to make a lot of she songs feel super accurate because of the weird volume fluctuations and lack of a straightforward melody to follow. i'm generally pretty bad in general at gauging the merit of any kind of minimalistic file though because all my files are overcomplicated >.>

Re: Stepmania University: We'll make your files suck less (under construction)
Yeah. I think Puppet said that the synthyness of the song as well as the fluctuations in volume were hard to capture using my method of layering. I stepped the song because I loved it, not because I thought it'd make a great file or anything. I'll wait for Patashur's dondon-style review before I start editing it.

Kommi I'd really suggest making liek a schedule of when semenars/group sessions will be so then other peope and I can plan for when they are and such. Just randomly saying "Hey whomever's on let's go do a freeze semenar" will leave unsuspecting people out and such.

Re: Stepmania University: We'll make your files suck less (under construction)
A quick basic random question I have:
Let's say I'm layering multiple instruments at once, and multiple sounds fall on a particular note. That note, however, isn't 'strong' (I can't think up of a better term, sorry), and it feels wrong to place say, three notes, just because three instruments coincide there. Is there a guideline, or a general rule of thumb to follow when "watering down" a stepfile? In this case, do I keep that note, or turn it into a double? |

Re: Stepmania University: We'll make your files suck less (under construction)
strong is good enough; accented is a more precise term but it's not always correct for what you mean
but uh it depends; most of the time i tend to water it down to a double (though i often shoot myself thirty times to convince myself to do it). though normally if i'm following three sounds and they all coincide they're bound to louder, because otherwise i probably wouldn't be following all three in the first place (such as beat, some percussive sounds (like a snare or something), and a melody, which all three together often makes an at least somewhat loud sound). i generally take a homophonic approach to what i do oh and also i am stepping a horrible korean r&b song and i will send it to kommi or someone i am prepared to get a failing grade especially because it is my first file in well over half a year
