Few hundred for a pair or per speaker? Active or passive?

I'm willing to drop like, 3-400. I talked to a dude I know (7Skies) and he said to make it an investment, so I will - and I'm going for active.

Get yourself a pair of Rokit 5's (I cant remember how much I paid for mine.. might be more around $500, so that might be out of your price range)

KRKs are really nice. I use a pair of Rokit 6's and they sound super smooth. I think I got them both for a total of $300, as there was some crazy half-off special going on with them at the time.

7Skies recommended mackie, but the b-truths look good, and rockits seem pretty legit - i'll probably go try some out at gc sometime

I don't have experience with Behringer, but I've never really heard anything but negativity toward them.

A friend of mine has some Mackies, they are quite nice.
