Open-Source Audio
http://www.archive.org/details/opensource_audio
Do we have access to these songs for use? If there is a license on the track, it would be a CCL. http://creativecommons.org/about/lic...t-the-licenses Even at the strictest level, we are allowed to use/distribute their track? There's nearly 400,000 files in this archive, and being able to use them would be a big plus. Every album displays their own CCL, clearly showing what you can and cannot do, effectively eliminating the requirement to ask for permission? |

Re: Open-Source Audio
Distributing, noooo (unless it's a CC Share-alike License), but it can mainly be used since it's Licensed. You don't have to ask, but Tasselfoot prefers it. Heck, even the artist can't say 'no' because they've already agreed to the license.

Re: Open-Source Audio
Actually, I think Tasselfoot even demands it, mainly cause he doesn't want the artist's songs to be used without the artist's knowledge or consent.
And even if the artists released their tracks under a creative commons license, when they say no, it's a no.

Re: Open-Source Audio
I thought them posting a song would mean that they are abiding to CC's licenses, similar to that of a contractual agreement?

Re: Open-Source Audio
It's not a CC issue. It's a Tass issue, as Spitfire said. I want artists to want their music in FFR. We have enough music to use as it is... I don't want to be using music that artists don't know we're using. They should want to be in FFR and be happy to be in FFR and yada yada.
So get permission directly.
