MBTI
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MBTI
Lately I have been researching the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Though my understanding of the MBTI is not terribly deep (as of now), I understand the underlying concepts associated with it. The purpose of this thread is not to explain the history of the MBTI. I only wish to give the average FFR user the oppurtunity to understand the fundamental theory of the MBTI. I will also be posting a link to a site where you will be able to complete a reasonably short test that will accurately establish your MBTI personality type. Essentially, everyone falls into one of the 16 types, based on certain characteristics and personality preferences. There are 4, larger dichotomies (known as temperaments), into which 4 types are placed (based on similar characteristics). Type Example: ENTJ The 4 letters that make up the personality type displayed above indicate a certain characteristic. An ENTJ's 4 characteristics are: Extraverted (E), iNtuition (N), Thinking (T), Judging (J). Together, these characteristics form a single, distinct personality type. The Attitude Characteristic: Extraverted (E): "...draws energy from action: they tend to act, then reflect, then act further. If they are inactive, their level of energy and motivation tends to decline." (Wikipedia) Introverted (I): "...becomes less energized as they act: they prefer to reflect, then act, then reflect again. People with Introversion preferences need time out to reflect in order to rebuild energy." (Wikipedia) The Perceiving Function: Sensing (S): Sees the world as concrete. Trusts experience and fact more than theory. iNtuition (N): Sees the world as abstract. Tends to be more interested in future possibilities than current ones. Tends to trust hunches (flashes of insight). The Judging Function: Thinking (T): Makes a decision based on a rational, logical, and/or consistent interpretation of presented information. Feeling (F): Makes a decision based on the specific situation, the ability to achieve harmony, and the feelings of those involved. The Lifestyle Characteristic: Perceiving (P): Prefers to "keep decisions open". Judging (J): Prefers to "have matters settled". Everyone is either Extraverted/Introverted, Sensing/iNtuition, Thinking/Feeling, and Perceiving/Judging. The Temperaments (Types included): The Guardians (SJ): 1. ESFJ 2. ISFJ 3. ESTJ 4. ISTJ The Artisans (SP): 1. ESFP - Tibs 2. ISFP 3. ESTP 4. ISTP The Idealists (NF): 1. ENFP - d514 2. INFP 3. ENFJ 4. INFJ - HammyMcSquirrel The Rationals (NT): 1. ENTP 2. INTP - Engler 3. ENTJ 4. INTJ - DarkbearX, Temote If you are interested in discovering your personality type, go to http://humanmetrics.com. Upon arriving at the site, click on the link that says "Jung Typology Test Jung Career Indicator™". It should be located in the upper left-hand corner of the page. The site will then prompt you to take the test. After you have completed the test, score it to receive your type. For a simple explanation of your personality type, go to http://mypersonality.info. Upon arriving at the site, enter your type into the search bar, located on the main page of the site.

Re: MBTI
INFJ here. From what I remember, I've taken this test twice before in the past (I want to say around half a year ago) and got INFJ the other two times. It'll be neat to see who is similar.

Re: MBTI
Interestingly enough, I've yet to meet another INTP in real life, though I know for a fact that there are throngs of them on the internet.

Re: MBTI
I score INFP or INTP usually -- the last time I did a tangible paper based version, though, it was the former.

Re: MBTI
INFP, apparently. /shrug
Hahaha, I'm like George Orwell and Aldous Huxley. Looks like I'm in good company.

INFJ over here.
I did this test almost three years ago, and it said I was an ENTJ. Pretty big change to now. |

Re: MBTI
INFJ and INTJ
The test produced a result of INTJ, but the "Thinking" component had a strength of 1%, meaning that I'm more of a cross between the two types (I'm assuming that the gauging of a dichotomy functions on a bidirectional spectrum [-100, 100] or something of the like). I'd say the test is pretty accurate, but only to a certain extent. There were a number of questions that really needed a neutral answer option. |
