Hmm I don't use Logic but if you're pushing past 6.0dB then you might be compressing or gaining some of the elements to hard. How much Input and Output are you adjusting to your compression? Are you compressing the entire track? What ratio's are you using? Does clipping occur and if so on which band (Low/Mid/High)? What does your panning look like?

I'd love to help out ~ Maybe you can upload a screen shot of the mixer/compression plug-ins Let's tackle this together!

First off, Thanks for attempting to help me.

Okay, so heres a more in depth of what the problem is:

So lets say I have just 3 layers going on at the same time. (Bass, lead, synth) and I want to add some snare. When I drop it on and correct the volume to match, it goes above 0.0 - when I adjust for below 0.0 it sounds mis-layered. Does that make sense?

When exporting (bouncing) what it does is whatever is clipped, it apparently takes the entire track down in volume, so when playing in iTunes or whatever you need to set your computer full blast to hear it. So I either have it incorrectly mixed or really quiet...

This happens about 90% of the time, and I am not sure what to do.

To answer your questions:

For input / output via compression - not much, if anything its tweaking it but I feel like im doing it wrong. Everytime I compress it, it always sounds a lot less full to what pro's sound like.

I have compressed everything from individual tracks that cause db to go over 0.0 - to the entire track. And I have no specific ratio, is there one?

For clipping, see above in rant above lol

I don't work that much with panning? Do you mean L and R channels? If so then rarely. Only for more pad type things.

Thanks once again Hopefully that helps?

TL;DR - HERP-DERP lol i dunno what im dooin

No worries dude, let's see if we can tackle this.

Your compressor might not be this exact kind but it should have some similar controls. So using this image as reference, look at your:

INPUT, OUTPUT, RATIO, ATTACK, RELEASE, and possible THRESHOLD if you have it.

If you can post what those values are, it'll help me understand if the compression is the problem or if it's something else.

In Logic Pro, what your master channel at? Like, the gauge that controls the entire mix. Is it sitting at 0.0dB or is it negative? Maybe that's why things sound so low.

Do you have some sort of auto-gain on the track? That can also cause the track to pulsate with volume.

Also assuming that your putting each element on different channels

Okay, cool. So right now, the total output is between -1.1 to 1.2 db (with my current exporting/bouncing settings, thats kinda fine, and works)
However, when right now im trying to add some background chords as a layer. (Noted as Sex Chords below, lol) You can barely hear it, and its increasing the total db by 2.0+

The image below is the current compression for it.... but I dont really know if its working correctly... i mean if i mess around so it dosent increase the total db, the sound is so distorted it destroys it.

The image below is the short "master" - what i see constantly.

The image below is the full mixer im looking at.

Hmmmm, I don't really see any issues with your compression on those "sex chords" lol but maybe someone else can chime in Kind of surprised not to see an INPUT gauge on the compressor but I guess that's what those limiter options are for.

How about the actual patch in Massive? What's the output on that?

A track peaking at 2/3 dB isn't the end of the world but if it's distorting, that's definitely not good. I wish I could just sit in the same room as you to see this lol! Wish I could be more helpful.

You don't want the stereo output to hit the red the whole time during your mix.

If you want it louder put an Adaptive Limiter on the Stereo Output.
That's what the problem was. Lolz. Thanks man for your help anyway. Credits were sent your way.
