Re: DDR World Record Attempt!
Congrats on getting that record guys! Were you feeling particularly exhausted at the end or was it mainly boredom doing you in? I wish I could have watched some but you were doing it over two consecutive 14 hour work days for me XD I'm guessing you're still open to donations, how would I go about that now?
Wishing all the best for Dac! |

Re: DDR World Record Attempt!
Sorry about the timing for you wildfire, and to hear that you had to work back-to-back 14 hour days >.<
I think I can speak for Donnie with what I say here. Beginner was ridiculously boring, and actually probably the hardest to play through. "Ok, all my weight is on my right foot. Now I have to put all my weight on my left foot to step with my right foot so I can step with my left foot in three seconds." That's all it was for five hours. It was incredibly boring and actually somewhat tiring. I loved playing Light and Standard. Those ten hours were actually rather easy, in my opinion. We found files that flowed nicely and stuck to those. We were moving more than in Beginner, but not so much that it wore us down quickly. Going into Heavy... ugh. We had a general idea of what songs we were going to play. We started going through them, then realized how close we were cutting it on time in-between song selections. I had one of our friends pull up the song list for the machine and jot down a list of every Heavy song that was a 5 or 6 footer. We just went straight down the list he had for us and cut them even farther from there - some songs had awkward double steps or oddly placed jumps in the streams. We did end up finding some 7s that were easy to play, but we mostly stuck to Remember You, Be In My Paradise, Butterfly, Keep On Movin' , Abyss, and Silent Hill. We occasionally through in some odd songs like Colors, Look To The Sky (true colors mix), and Burnin' The Floor (Blue Fire mix). The true exhaustion didn't start setting in until the last five or so hours. It was at that point that I realized that I had never wanted to quit something so badly. We took a 15 minute break about an hour, hour and a half before we broke the record (I think), and broke it while playing Holic. We had originally planned to take another 15 minute break before going into our last hour, concluding the event around 7pm. We ended up taking a 25 minute break and concluding at 7:11pm, giving us a total time played of 24hrs 11mins. In our last ten or so song sets, I think we played Remember You and Be In My Paradise about 15 times each.... The last 30-45 minutes before that last break were agonizing. The crowd that gathered to watch the conclusion of the event definitely got us through the last hour. We played a couple rounds of Be In My Paradise and Remember You, then moved on to some more difficult but still easy songs. I think we closed out on Abyss, Colors, Look To The Sky (true color) and Can't Stop Fallin' In Love (speedy mix). We definitely found one last surge of energy for that last set thanks to the crowd. The event overall was an incredible (yet VERY tiring) experience. I think we raised over $200 in cash donations with many people saying they were going to make an online contribution. The generosity is overwhelming to me. It was a small arcade in a not-too-large town. I didn't expect that much. I truly am thankful to those that came to support us and especially those that donated to Dac's fund. ------- If you still want to donate, all you have to do is go to www.oneupfordac.com (or 1upfordac, same destination). You can make a donation through paypal, snail mail, or (if you live in Pennsylvania) in person at any First National Bank branch (just ask to donate to the David Croach Leukemia Fund). Any donation, no matter how small, is a help to this great person to get through this unfortunate illness. Any person that makes a donation has our deepest thanks and appreciation. EDIT: I wanted to add this link (very recent discovery) - https://teespring.com/oneupfordac. If 100 shirts are purchased, the shirts will be printed and mailed out. All the information is available on the page. They're pretty sweet shirts. All funds go directly to Dac to help cover all of his medical expenses. That was the lowest point for me, my body has never been so exhausted. Also, last night when I got home from work, I realized I pulled a muscle in my foot? I've pulled enough muscles to know what it feels like, but I never even knew it was possible o_o'. Icy Hot was an all star today. I will submit this to Guiness once I figure out the best way to send 400GB of media. Right now, my only idea is buy a portable hard drive, transfer the files, and ship it. At the moment, I am transferring the videos + pictures from my laptop to my desktop over my network. 283GB of files, currently expected to take 23 hours to transfer O_O. |
