Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
Maybe if people didn't insult me for my gender I wouldn't be emotionally insecure.

Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
Yeah, no idea why a bunch of white, male teenagers and 20 something's would not understand prejudice.

Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
Since I can insult people with impunity on here, apparently, you're the stupidest TWG player ever R. Like, seriously. I had no hope of convincing you of anything because you're too fucking stupid.

That is enough.
I have more to post but I'm telling you right now: post one more time and you'll be banned. R: one more thing that comes out of your mouth like that again and you'll be banned too. everyone else: stop talking for just a moment so I can get caught up because I want to make sure I take proper action here, since obviously I'm the only impartial person here at this point edits in TWG: dammit Kayla Last edited by TC_Halogen; 08-4-2014 at 08:19 AM.. |

Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
Cavernio I don't know you well at all and I can understand fully why you're upset but I also understand why others are being dismissive of what happened. It's common in the wolf game for people to bring up a variety of things to get an emotional reaction out of another player. I had a game where I blew up and quit because I felt like what was going on was wrong and then even after the game I had J-rodd making insulting comments at me for quitting the game because I got upset.
I'm not going to defend either party, I'm just going to say that TWG can be a rough ass game and things do get said that can really be bothersome. I think that maybe this needs to be something that new players are warned about prior to playing the game. I don't think anyone really realizes how ruthless it can be until they play a game or two. Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
@ Cavernio: You're obviously in disagreement with everyone else; you've made that quite clear with everyone but now you've resorted to flaming, and that needs to stop.
@ devonin: that post does not hold any sort of merit; you're implying that we should take action just because a specific statement is said towards a particular person -- at the end of the day, they're used colloquially in TWG, and not intended as insults in the context of the game. This is what everyone is failing to understand. I completely understand being upset about what has been said, not just with Gun's situation, but also with feeling like you were being targeted by YoshL too -- the issue between both sides is that one person used it as a tactic for producing a tell (YoshL), and the other interpreted it as a legitimate insult (you). YoshL's post was definitely overly harsh given the context of a jTWG, but it is not something that is unheard of in a regular game. In fact, there are plenty of games where people resort to mudslinging in an effort to get the other person to crack, and it is generally accepted in the game to do so. I like to think that TGB/TWG are their own areas of the site that have their own, less standardized rules; like TGB, TWG is a subset of the forums that often breaks conventional forum rules (albeit for different reasons) because the increased aggression is typically done within the context of the game and nothing more. It would be safe to say that such a statement would likely not have happened outside of TWG unless there was a slew of flaming/trolling/(etc) to start with, and in that case, a ban would hold considerably more merit. |

Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
additionally: I would like to say that as a staff member, I am not opposed to normalized rules in TWG in the event that something like this happens again.
however, being ridiculously picky about them now is unfair to users being infracted for them now. here's my suggestion: get a TWG committee going, establish rules on what is fair within the context of a game, and define at what point where the global forum rules apply rather than having things like this happen. |

Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
I know this may not have much of an impact of whats going on. But Ill take a game ban or what ever you deem necessary because of my PM. I wasn't thinking and had a full blown derp moment. Ill take responsibility for my actions and what ever the consequence is for said action.

yeah so uh i'm going to comment on something said earlier

Not that saying a sarcastic, prejudiced comment to someone you don't even know is totally okay. I've had my times where I blew up because of that on other sites. Maybe in the context of a TWG this may have been more acceptable, but this is a jTWG, and Cav obviously wasn't prepared to deal with that. -- Also TWG committee thing sounds coolio. This entire situation made enjoying TWG pretty hard, and if the goal of this jTWG is to encourage new people to play, then situations like these are going to scare away quite a few people. |

I love this so much
What did you need to convince to me? I don't care if I'm the worst TWG player. I actually enjoyed playing it and that's what matters to me. Last edited by RNGRX; 08-4-2014 at 11:08 AM.. |

Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
The reason I don't empathize with you has nothing to do with not understanding prejudice. It has to do with the fact that he made one sexist comment in the thread and you are trying to convince me he made three. I stop giving a shit when you are trying to paint a minor offense of gun's as though gun is a full-blown member committing the horrible things that are a part of the class of actions called sexism. You decided to find a more sexist interpretation than really exists which makes me stop feeling like your frustration is something I feel like siding with. Sexism is bad but people who make rats into boogeymen are also bad. TC_Halogen is suggesting restructuring the rules of a game that has been played for like 10 years because of how upset you are at your own reaching read of gun's comments. I don't really like it and I could find more polite ways to say this game isn't for you but I think this gets to the point.

Who was talking out of thread? I also think that the game may not be as fun should the rules change.

Re: jTWG LXV: POSTGAME
Also can the "what everybody fails to understand/what everybody is doing" argument never be used like, ever, because I feel somehow condemned for something I have no interest in voicing myself into.
