So this doesn't have anything to do with the pack, but this is the reason I do not play SM5, testing/making files or actually playing.

I did fairly extensive playtesting on SM5 vs SM3.95.

Used same speedmods (C830, distant), same resolution (1024x768), same offset, same judge difficulty of course

(Forgive the shitty scores because I'm bad)

1st Try: SM5, 107perfects
2nd Try: SM3.95, 54 perfects

Song: Kil's Marine Drive
1st Try: SM3.95, 84 perfects 22 greats
2nd Try: SM5 , 123p 11g
3rd Try: SM5, 82p 23g
4th Try: SM5, 61p 10g
5th Try: SM3.95, 52p 8g

Song: hayden's Angel Eyes [Done on SMO]
Offline SM3.95 try: 16p
1st Try: SM3.95: 16p
Offset stats: +356/-258 1.728ms
2nd Try: SM5, 27p (The website says 25p)
Offset stats: +328/-263 1.558ms
3rd Try: SM5, 29p (The website says 27p)
Offset stats: +318/-294 0.611ms
4th Try: SM3.95, 15p (The website says 14p)
Offset stats: +327/-286 1.008ms

Offset explanation: the positive numbers are how many notes I hit above the receptor (More than 0.000ms early). Negative numbers are how many I hit below (late) the receptors. The ms number is on average how offbeat I was.

This is an actual playing test where human error is possible, but I am very fucking consistent on Angel Eyes and the results were clear.

Verdict: Based on playing alone, SM5 is retarded and I will never use it

It appears the game doesn't use the exact same judging window that the previous versions do. Why would I play the version that gives me worse scores given how consistent I was in the online testing.

The timing windows in the stepmania.ini are exactly the same. The game has some weirdly different feel to it that fucks me up though.

you will need to change your speedmod, the sm5 playing field is longer. I had the same issue when I changed, until I changed speedmod (played something like c700 on sm3.9, currently play c870 on sm5)

alternatively, you're a stepmania relic and continue to hold onto old ideas because you're a stubborn shit

there's more reading space yeah. it's like comparing pump pro to pump fiesta. pump pro has like 25% smaller reading space. I read higher cmods on sm5 compared to what I had on 3.95

This is what I told him. I suggested turning on the bar at the bottom of the screen to cut the screen length to match 3.9.

I never said I outright refused to fix, nor did I ever mention what exactly was wrong with my sm5. on top of that (excluding that one time I poked a bit of fun at a chart which was apparently inappropriate) I never judged any chart I couldn't actually play, and I don't recall anyone saying I wasn't allowed to abstain temporarily from judging a chart

on top of that, what does me not having sm5 have anything to do with any opinion or the validity of my points, that I've given so far

I don't think I'm treating anyone unfairly, in fact if anything I'm possibly being more fair to everyone here than anyone else. I haven't attacked anyone and if anything, mostly I've been defending people who had valid points
