Michigan Meetup (DO NOT POST IF YOU CANNOT COME)
Alright, it's time we start talking about this.
It has been talked among several FFR'ers of a meet up in Michigan. Why Michigan? Because it has a lot of Bemani arcades, and a lot of FFR'ers. We need to start figuring out who would go to this, how many people we would get, where we would stay, and what arcades we would actually go to. As I am talking to chardish here, several places come to mind. Pinball Pete's, AFC Troy, AFC Westland, ect. What we need to do right now is get some people that live in the area to get some information. Like hotel information (for those of us coming from out of town), how far places are from each other, and things like that. Also, I think it would be neat to see some pictures of each arcade, as well as to find out what type of Bemani games they have. So, I guess we need to start off by finding out who is interested? Only say if you really thing you will be able to go. Don't just say you would go to bandwagon. Also, post where you live, and we can see if this thing has a chance of happening. EDIT: This is some final information on the trip Michigan Meetup -Preliminary Details- August 5th, 6th, 7th. Out of towners should drive in on the 5th, and arive in Michigan in the afternoon, check into their hotels, then proceed to Pinball Petes. Hotel arrangments are still being worked out, but i'd like it if those coming from out of town stayed in the same hotel, so we can have some fun after the locals have gone home. August 5th (5pm - 11pm) Pinball Pete's: Activities Planned / Games Available - Bubble Island (Bubble Tea) - Guitar Freaks - Drummania - DDR (5th through 8th mixes) - Para Para Paradise August 6th (2pm - ??pm) AFC Troy [Oakland Mall]: Activities Planned / Games Available - Lunch in the foodcourt - Walking around mall - Guitar Freaks - Drummania [Unsure of mixes available] - DDR Extreme (2) - In The Groove - Beatmania III 7th Mix - Pump It Up (We think Exceed) August 7th (12pm - 5pm) AFC Westland: Activities Planned / Games Available - Lunch in foodcourt - Walking around mall - DDR Extreme (2) - IIDX 8th Style - Guitar Freaks 11th Mix - Drummania 10th Mix - Pop N' Music Animelo 2 The 7th ends early because the out of towners will probably want to get out of there. We need to start making a definate list of who is going, please post here if you're 100% going... or close to it. Also, I'll want to take a group photo every day, because I'm sure everyone won't be able to go every single day. We'll have tournaments at each location, which can be organized by indivdual people. ---HOTEL INFO--- Right now we're looking at the Comfort Inn in Farmington Hills. The Internet Rate (aka booked online) is 80.99 a night, and that comes with 2 double beds (I think you can get the same rate with one big bed Tass Wink) Room includes Free High-Speed Internet Access - Iron and Ironing Board - Cable TV - HBO - 25 inch TV. Distances to Arcades: Pinball Pete's: 36 Minutes AFC Troy: 20 Minutes AFC Westland: 21 Minutes Comfort Inn 30715 W. Twelve Mile Rd. , Farmington Hills, MI, US, 48334 Phone: (248) 471-9220 Fax: (248) 471-2053 THATS ONLY 4 NUMBERS AWAY FROM 8 MILE. Don't order anything til we figure out more info. More questions? Post here. ------------------------------------------- Users Attending the Michigan Meetup 1. lightdarkness 2. ImEric12 3. Tasselfoot 4. Whorlichan (90%) 5. Qreepy 6. qwertyddr 7. DjShox 8. RE: Michigan Meetup
Considering I started the last thread, I would love to go.
I live in Warren, MI, which is about 15 minutes away from Troy AFC, 45 from Westland AFC, and an hour from Pinball Pete's. I've been to both Troy AFC and Pinball Pete's. Rundown: Troy AFC 1 Guitar Freaks 1 Drummania [I don't remember what mixes these were] 2 DDR Extreme 1 In The Groove 1 Beatmania III 7th Mix Pinball Pete's 1 Guitar Freaks 1 Drummania 2 DDR Extreme 1 DDR 5th (I THINK) 1 DDR Max(or 2, don't remember which) 1 PPP And the best drinks in the ENTIRE WORLD BUBBLE TEA OWNS YOUR SOUL AND ITS DOWN THE STREET FROM PINBALL PETES Westland AFC apparently has like some DDR, Popn 2 Animelo, BM something, PIU. Once we decide on a location, we can figure out hotel stuff. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera last time I was at Troy AFC, and the only picture I have of Pete's is one of me playing Blade of the Maaayzyew or whatever, and looking like a demon and drinking bubble tea. no bemani in the picture. er, actually, I might have some, lemme check the old archive. EDIT: Found some. These are at PINBALL PETES. There's drummania. That one is a screenshot of a video, obviously. I didn't feel like using the marquee tool to get just the video, because... because I didn't. The picture shows DDREX, but it looks like there are 3. There may be, I can't remember exactly. It also shows GF off to the right. Para Para is right behind where the picture was taken, if I remember correctly.

Why Michigan. It is cold there.

RE: Michigan Meetup
Michigan is indeed cold, but not during the summer. Southeast Michigan has the largest concentration of bemani players known, or at least ones that post on bemani forums. Rivalled only by Washington and maybe California.

I'll host an FFR house party in a few years.
That would be pretty sweet.

RE: Michigan Meetup
Lol no duh. Novi over here. I say we get a poll of where people live in Michigan who play FFR and find a center point between the spots. I live about 30 minutes to an hour away from these places.

RE: Michigan Meetup
Well, that wouldn't work, unless there was an arcade exactly at the center point. And, we're going more for which arcade is the best, not which arcade is the closest.
Not to mention out of staters, such as LD, Chardish, and any others that decide to come.

RE: Michigan Meetup
Myself and Chardish are pretty much 100% going.
We might do this over the course of a weekend, hitting all 3 places. We figure we won't get many out of towners, and a bunch of michiganer's.

RE: Michigan Meetup
You road-tripping it LD? If so, how far is the drive from Buffalo, and I take it you'll stop and pick up Chardish on the way?

RE: Michigan Meetup
Pinball Pete's has 5th, Max, Max2, and Extreme DDRs, and every game that involves holding a gun EVER.
Even a boxing game that shocks you, last time I checked! And a gun-holding game where PELLETS FLY OUT OF THE GUN AND HIT A TOUCH SENSITIVE SCREEN WHOAAA. And it is across the street from the Safe-Sex Store (lol...), Middle Earth, and is directly under the Underworld, a nerdy place (Magic cards, comic books, warhammer, EVERYTHING like that). And I live like 15 minutes away. For me, it would be best to do in August, after Camp Caen, and I would only really be able to go if Eric were in the same session as I were, haha.... Over-crazed parents. :P

RE: Michigan Meetup
I'll probably go. I haven't been to any, but I do know of Pinball Pete's. Any is fine with me, though. Ben's parents are awesome and I can just tell my parents I'm spending the night and actually come out here XD
Either one is fine with me, but from the game listing, I'd say Troy AFC just because it has ITG. I want to play that game so bad. SO FRICKING BAD. grr |

RE: Michigan Meetup
As it looks now, this will be a 3 day event. It isn't worth it for people like Chardish and I for one day. Perhaps something like friday, saturday, sunday. Hit one each day. Who knows, still a lot to be dicussed.

RE: Michigan Meetup
Okay, here's distances between each. This post will be edited periodically as I work on this stuff. It will also include hotel info for out-of-towners.
Troy AFC to Westland AFC: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=from%3...0.897305&hl=en Pinball Petes to Troy AFC: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=from%3...0.897305&hl=en Westland AFC to Pinball Petes: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=from%3...0.915024&hl=en Here's a list of hotels around Westland, which is pretty much dead center between Troy and Ann Arbor. http://www.mytravelguide.com/hotels/...nd_hotels.html

RE: Michigan Meetup
I'll be going if I can get a ride with Torlock. I'll need a reason to go (that doesn't involve meeting people I know online) so that my parents will let me.
Any ideas? Like an event or something? |

Vash, Musical_Master, and me should go together just so my parents don't go crazy with me going to a place with people I've only met over the internet.
