Keep In Mind [10 or 11]
I'm surprised this song hasn't been brought up, since I haven't played FFR for years but this song has been quite memorable for giving me a hard time
What have we here? Average length (~2mins), somewhat low bpm (<150), slow jumpstream patterns with splatters of coloured 24ths/32nd patterns here and there The file flows well given its jazzy nature, having a non-straightforward rhythm. The relentless parts come in from the 2nd half of the song; bursts of 24th trills here and there with some 32nds thrown into the mix occasionally. There are one or two sets of 24ths that are right before 16th trills, requiring trilling speed control. Some bursts also happen between trill transitions, giving it a FMO-esque feel (at least from what I've played so far) Unfortunately this file isn't played as much to warrant solid comparison (sadly, as its a pretty enjoyable file IMO). Didj PVC might be comparable since its full of coloured bursts too Statistics: Keep In Mind (decent length, high 10, fairly low #play for its date?) I know that using personal experience isn't a good reason, but I've got 8 VC AAAs and I still have yet to FC Keep In Mind. The bursts can be too much at times.

Re: Keep In Mind [10 or 11]
Honestly if songs like novo mundo, hajnal and J&C are 11's, then keep in mind should be one too. The ending is just terrible for the PA. Combo wise I'd say its probably a high 10, but i can PA most FMO's better than Keep in mind.

I've been advocating for this to be an 11 for a long time. Most of the file is dense as hell, especially that ending.

One of the few VCs I have left to AAA x.x
I don't see why this shouldn't be an FMO. The ending is so hard to nail especially when you have nerves.

Re: Keep In Mind [10 or 11]
Yes, the ending is mid-high FMO level in my book. The rest of the file is high 10... but seriously that amount of one handed trill/reading ability required to hit that pattern is pretty absurd.

Re: Keep In Mind [10 or 11]
Lmao Keep In Mind was in my final 5 10s to AAA. However, I still don't think it's an 11. The only FMO part is the ending, but I don't think it's enough to push it over to FMO material.

Re: Keep In Mind [10 or 11]
This is a tough one to me. I can see it on both sides, but I can't help but feel like the current rating is a bit more justifiable than the 11 rating. The first half is somewhat dense, but being that it's all carried through 16th notes, it's not much of a challenge for anyone that is attempting to go for a respectable score on this song. The second half is definitely fast, but where the chart picks up in pace, the chart picks up in simplicity.
The only real tricky section is immediately before the drum solo, featuring some disconnected 24ths. Otherwise, the chart flows very well. The last little gasp of difficulty near the end of the song with the sped up 24th run is very small, and not quite extreme enough to merit the change to me either. I'm going to say leave the VC rating. |

Re: Keep In Mind [10 or 11]
I played the file to see what the fuss was about. Had 8-1-0-1 at the pause during a particularly lucky run. Finished with 17-1-0-2.
Yeah. That ending is really brutal for a 10, but For FFR has a similar structure in terms of lol end spike and that's a VC. |

My reasoning isn't too good because there are a few songs in this game that people find difficult that I don't really at all. This being one of them. I'm a horrible judge in terms of what level songs should be because bballa said For FFR is a clear cut 11 and I really don't think it should be. It has that one ending and really, if you know how to hit it, it's not that bad. You don't even have to read it besides one part in the middle of the ending part to see when it changes. 11s should be songs that you have to actually read to AAA. |

Re: Keep In Mind [10 or 11]
ah Keep in Mind, when the file first came out it was probably among if not the hardest VC in the game next to For FFR. When I saw the preview plays I was flipping out about it being FMO. Playing it however, and examining it it's just one of the highest VC's. It is in no way any more tricky than Novo Mundo, Hajnal, or Jeanie and Caroline (how could you compare this to Hajnal?). It has one really tricky part at the end which is FMO worthy, the drum solo is high VC along the likes of Twelve and Feldschlatt, while the rest of the song is closer to the difficulty of PianoXForte, ex. not so fast 16th jump stream with 24th bursts around.
It's not harder than Feldschlatt, which is my cap for VC's (Feldschlatt is much harder overall for just about the same reasons this file is), or Bus Rides with Peoplem or even Sambista IMO. It's a hard upper level VC, and among the 10 hardest VC's in the game. If all 10 of those move up to FMO (which is reasonable), then I could understand but moving just this one and ignoring Feldschlatt, BRWP, and Twelve is not necessary. And Twelve is certainly not an FMO. Pretty much this falls into the category of the 'technical 75 VC's'. Nearly all the difficulty 75 VC's are comparable, and extremely hard. Take Sambista. These files are the border that blurs the line, and I like them being the border. They are not straight forward files like Novo Mundo, Hajnal, and Jeanie which rely heavily on speed or doing bursts, these are purely technical files of the highest calibur without being thrown into the speed or density of FMO's. The 'technical VC's' should, for now, be left as technical VC's.

Re: Keep In Mind [10 or 11]
For FFR is the dumbest VC ever to be left there, it's harder than nearly half the FMO's I've ever played and I will probably never come close to AAA'ing it. If blue note syndrome weren't bad enough, I believe they aren't even 32nd notes (I think they're 24th notes?) and the pattern changes and leads in very strangely. The clear cut 11, agreed.

Re: Keep In Mind [10 or 11]
This should stay as a 10. It's really tough, yes, but not tough enough to be a FMO.

Re: Keep In Mind [10 or 11]
Bballa, I'm actually fine with Keep In Mind and For FFR staying 10s, which is what I was trying to say with my last post. In my mind, the best borderline files prepare the player for what awaits them in the next higher difficulty--borderline 9s like Forsaken Neon prepare the player for 10s like Purple, for example. Similarly, FMOs are where you really start to see technicality and speed combine to this extent, and as Keep In Mind only has one section like that as opposed to For FFR's two framer-messed 24th sections, I argue that Keep In Mind is a 10.

Re: Keep In Mind [10 or 11]
I feel like for ffr should be an 11 but keep in mind a high 10. Keep in mind is very straightforward and not fast enough to be 11, yes it is kind of tricky but it's not that hard to figure out where it gets tricky and what to expect. Songs like for ffr you can't really prepare for you just have to be good. Pretty much good enough to aaa mid fmo's which is why I think that way but that's a different thread that will probably be ignored either way
