FFR Day of Silence
So, I talked about how I wanted to do this before. So, it's not for credits or any rewards. Tomorrow is the Day of Silence. It's a day where, normally you wouldn't talk, but for my FFR edition you won't post. Just for the sake of being able to document those of us who decide to participate in this day, I'll be having sign ups.
The purpose of the Day of Silence is to represent the silence gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transexuals/transgenders have endured over the years. A lot of people try and tell us "oh, just cuz u aint talking dont mean every1 is guna stop h8in." Well, it's a bit true. But just remember a journey of 1,000 miles starts with one step. It'll be going from 12:00 AM EST April 17, 2009 - 12:00 AM EST April 18, 2009. On Saturday we'll have the closest thing to a celebration we can have here, which will be a reflective period and to tell your stories about the day. Who knows, maybe I'll throw out some credits. 1. rzr 2. adamaja 3. ZC_Wolfy 4. dashoe93 5. Lozy-2610 6. poleaxe 7. lumph 8. sk8 9. u9hq5yqh 10. Re: FFR Day of Silence
Am I the only one who finds it ironic that Rzr is proposing the idea of not posting for a day?

Lmao at quigly's comment..
I might consider this. I can't actually do it in person since I have Chorus tomorrow [epic fail], so this seems like an interesting alternative.

Re: FFR Day of Silence
I hate metaphoric events. If you want to do something, do something that will do something.

Re: FFR Day of Silence
not posting on ffr for 1 day will bring an end to violence against gays.

Re: FFR Day of Silence
Rzr, You're in a twg game at the moment which requires posting.
I don't have problems with you hosting an event like this, I just don't think you should participate in it because it effects prior commitments you already have.

Re: FFR Day of Silence
AIM, homie. No problems with me doing it. Besides, it'll be night until 2 tomorrow leaving 10 hours of not posting. So, I'll still have 38 hours to post during Day 2. Chill.

Re: FFR Day of Silence
Correct me if I'm wrong....
It's my understanding that on the Day of Silence you are to be silent, causing people to notice your silence, then nonverbally explaining to them what you're doing and why. Since you can really do neither of those things on a forum such as this one, all this amounts to is a signup sheet. Congratulations. --Guido http://andy.mikee385.com |

Re: FFR Day of Silence
We're not posting -- it's our way of not speaking.
We make this thread -- it's our way of explaining the purpose of the Day of Silence. |

Re: FFR Day of Silence
Seems like being silent just further adds to the problem. Metaphorically to me it just seems like a way of making fun of gays that are to afraid to tell people.

It's used to represent their silence, not belittle it.

Re: FFR Day of Silence
I think what you're doing is a great idea and I would join in, but as I never really post in these forums anyway, it wouldn't really have much meaning =]

Re: FFR Day of Silence
I think the only time it would mean something would be when somebody tries to talk to you, and you can't reply and have to write down why...otherwise...it's pretty pointless IMO. I support the idea, but the method via forums isn't that great IMO.
