Default Mp3 conversion problems.

Well, I'm trying to narrow this problem down: Are there issues (along with solutions) to converting certain files to mp3's, or does my computer simply suck at mp3 conversions?

What essentially happens is that in some of my self-made mp3 files, I'll hear a weird clicking noise in even some of the quietest parts of my tracks. I used to think that it was certain instruments I used, but it began to show in other tracks as well, while many other mp3s are clean as a whistle. This particularly happens on jumpstyle songs, which, if anyone knows me, is a huge blow to my morale.

I use FL Studio 7 and Audacity for my finalizing and I have a CreAtive Sound Blaster X-Fi sound card. Is anyone else experiencing problems such as my own?

When I first looked at the name of this thread, I thought it was about MP3 Player the person... Now that I read that, I have no idea, are you making music and some weird noise keeps on playing in it as well? or what?

If it was the metronome, I wouldn't describe them as "weird clicking noises" and "monotone clicking noises on every quarter note."

Worth a shot imo.

You've created MP3 files without this problem before? I can only think of a couple of things it could be, but if this doesn't happen every time, then I'm a little bit confused.

It could be your sound card... some sound cards cause crackling when they're not in the computer correctly, or if they get dirty. You may want to shut the computer off, take the sound card out, and gently clean the dust off of it and the area you plug it into.

It could also be the MP3 encoder you're using... I'm not sure if Audacity uses a LAME encoder or not. LAME is the best MP3 encoder out there, and if Audacity doesn't use it you may want to check it out. It also depends on the bitrate of the file, I'm sure; if you're encoding at 128 kbps, some audio might lose enough quality to create strange artifcats in the sound.

Those are the only two things I can think of... sorry if I'm not even close.

Post an example of your mp3 so I can try to help troubleshoot.

It's probably a combination of both. Audacity does use a LAME encoder but I've been uploading at 128kbs. If someone could enlighten me on how to change that, it'd be nice. However, I've also uploaded from FL at 320kbs, and it experienced the noises as well.

And iPatch, I'll find an mp3 in a moment.

Wow. I don't want to ever pull this song out again >_<

Listen to the opening kicks. This is when I thought that the problem revolved around a kick I was using.

Ok, I only read the first post. Anyway, In Fl, extract it as a .wave then go to zamzar.com and convert it to a MP3, i've had this problem and this fixed it.

Odd, I'm not really sure. Sounds just like a crap encoder. Consider using all2lame with -V 0 --vbr-new as the switch where it asks. You also need LAME.dll if you don't have it already.

You can find all2lame here: http://home.wanadoo.nl/~w.speek/speek.htm

I already have LAME. I wouldn't be able to use Audacity without it. I guess I'll try both all2lame and zamzar.com to see what results I get. Before I do that, how do I encode my exports from Audacity with 320kps quality?
