New video on hand speed exercises

This compresses a lot of principles into one video and addresses a lot of common questions usually brought up from older guides |

Re: New video on hand speed exercises
While these movements do require muscle I don't feel a focus on caloric intake and increased size (at least to the extent you imply) is beneficial. Even for drummers who probably need to use the most strength out of any musician can be tiny yet fast and have tons of stamina:
The tendons play a way more crucial role, muscular failure is important and I'm not downplaying that but we are talking about tiny, tiny muscles that don't use a lot of energy. |

- Caloric intake is usually arrived at without realizing it. Meaning the best players tend to meet the good-enough calorie requirements without really knowing they're doing that. It may not seem like that's the case, but when you actually look at what they eat they tend to get sufficient calories/protein. The reason I mentioned calories is not because people don't get enough, but because their progress will probably stall when they're trying to lose weight / body fat. - The muscle size increase for trill speed / drumming speed is not noticeable because the muscles are so small relative to the whole forearm, but it IS there. If you actually compared the fiber sizes of, say, a top beatmania player's digit extensors vs a regular person's you would notice an enormous size difference in terms of its size vs its original size, even though the size increase in absolute is tiny. A friend of mine is a chef and his thumb extensor muscle is ridiculously developed compared to the rest of his hand. It's only noticeable because it's so out of place compared to the rest of his hand, but it does show how much that muscle actually grows. Last edited by Arch0wl; 03-20-2017 at 07:23 AM.. |
