Re: jTWG LXX: Flash Squadron - Game thread
how does it flow freely though how does it make sense why would you look at a power role like it's a failsafe that isn't a failsafe that's last-resort damage control

Re: jTWG LXX: Flash Squadron - Game thread
Maybe because dfr and I have really similar inhibitions in the way that we think we could vs. should post. I would imagine not everyone would need some sort of, for lack of better phrase, "confidence boost" or at least something to back yourself on.
Simply possessing the additional power role could psychologically give someone fire in their words and maybe even a nuanced vision of the game that a blue would have since they've been playing the entire game in that mindset. Some people may think it sounds silly because on the surface, you can always just spit out the same words. but I feel like being something MORE can have a powerful effect on the way someone defends themselves, and particular people would benefit from that more. |

Re: jTWG LXX: Flash Squadron - Game thread
Rereading dfr's post about the last game, I find it kind of funny. Before you subbed in, I was planning how I could do the exact opposite. I wanted to stay quiet enough to avoid drawing unnecessary attention to myself so that the wolves wouldn't think I was uber green and go after me. But at the same time, have to convince town I was green so they wouldn't think I was suspicious either. If you're forced to claim your role, you're doing something wrong, so while it could be a failsafe, it also costs the role in the end.

Re: jTWG LXX: Flash Squadron - Game thread
I understand the logic of using the role as a crutch to play more aggressively, but in my experience I tend to play more cautious when I get roles. I, as anyone would, will failsafe claim if I'm in danger of being lynched, but I try not to let it dictate my play style too heavily.

Re: jTWG LXX: Flash Squadron - Game thread
In any case, I do think dfr is green this game. (And if he isn't, I will probably be sad forever.)

With your role behind you though, you could be more confident and powerful in your words. |

but there's always another side. An aggressiveness behind both the confidence in your role, and just appearing like a very helpful green may even be an alternative to playing blue. I see the side where blue can actually make people feel safer. |

And by "safer" I just mean in regard to "failsafe" or a thing to always have to fall back upon.

But I'm seriously rethinking blue roles now. I figured the "come out when necessary" was enough, and just to blend in.

Re: jTWG LXX: Flash Squadron - Game thread
dfr pulled off being blue REALLY well last game. I'm pretty sure very few people, if anyone, suspected that he was a blue role. I know for a fact that I didn't.

I think we've gotten ourselves sidetracked into mechanics again though.

Blending in too much doesn't leave a trail for others in the event you're killed and on the other hand, overdoing it, I agree with you, rip a target on you bye.
Blue is a rocky road and open to interpretation indeed. |

yeah true, a bit sidetracked. The question was simply what we thought about dfr's claim. Others are free to jump in... I see 8 members and 10 guests?

Re: jTWG LXX: Flash Squadron - Game thread
I think it was something about Yoshl's playstyle or just the vocal players in general. I think for Yoshl, I'd be more concerned if he wasn't being aggressive and casting votes because he does a great job of generating discussion. He provokes a reaction. He's... threatening without being a threat is the best way I can sum it up, haha. He reads green to me.
Mashi always reads green to me, which scares me more because I've seen how well he plays as a wolf. I still feel that his posts are genuine though, but there is always going to be that seed of doubt in my mind. Red's interactions with yoshl make me think he's green. I have no idea how to read funny, but she likes cake and voting against Trevor, so she's cool in my books.

Re: jTWG LXX: Flash Squadron - Game thread
What better way than a reads list!
Red: His reactions to yoshl are what I expected. Based off of what I've last game and his posting style, I'll have to say that his posting has remained consistent suggesting that he is town. DFR: Yoshl did have his argument regarding how you disappeared about acknowledging that you had a lot of posts. I will acknowledge the fact though that he has a lot of posts most (if not all) have little substance to them. funnygurl also made a good point about not buying the whole "I'm wary of posting" act. So for now, a very slight red lean. jteh: I agree, in most games, you're likely to have at least one somewhat active wolf trying to pitch in a fair amount to the conversation, trying to contribute and such. On the flip side, it's also quite likely there is a wolf that lays low and tries to go UTR (without being too UTR to the point where it's suspicious of course). Anyways, what concerns me is that the post where you voted for me seems to be the first major legit contribution to the thread. The fact that you're extending off of yoshl's thoughts on myself and not posting any other red leans seems almost like if you waiting for the opportunity to easily hop on a bandwagon or something. It's a stretch and otherwise, your posts seem very town-like but I'll keep what I mentioned in mind. yoshl: I clearly was taken aback by the aggressive posting style I wasn't used to seeing, so my initial reaction was a bit of an overreaction. I still need to look at your past games like you asked me to. Until then, I don't know exactly what to think right now, but I'll be keeping my eye on you. Charles: I still haven't seen much from you aside from your initial advice posts, so I don't have much to say. I'd like to hear your thoughts. I'll admit, that was a great humongous advice post, read every last bit. Now one might wonder, is mashi doing this to be nice and helpful to the new players or to just appear to be helpful to appear human (or both!?). It seems like most strictly believe the former since you seem like a nice/chill guy. I just worry that you might be taking advantage of this fact or something. Since this read is somewhat meta-oriented and since I haven't played many games with you, I have a neutral lean at the moment. Maybe I'll look at some past games later on if I have the time. funny: A lot of people have commented on your "unusual" post count. I believe your explanation on how school is out and everything, giving you more time and such to play twig. So human lean for now. soramimi: your cat avatar and the "tone" of your writing always seems very innocent so you always seem human Dx Anyways, nothing suspicious from you, so human lean for now. cold kitten: Is that enough valuable info? =3 Anyways, I'd like to see some more posts from you. I couldn't help but notice how quick you were to latch onto jteh and yoshl's vote/suspicion of me, all without much explanation or reasoning other than to "put...pressure" and "get...info" which seems a little generic. rngrx, sky kitten, wilson, cry: I haven't seen enough posts from you guys to be able to get any reads so null for now. |
