Choof Gets A Job 2: A Better Contract
Just received a contingent offer for a government job in San Diego. Once I have Security+, it'll be a full offer and I am taking that shit.
BALLIN Anyone on FFR live around San Diego (specifically Camp Pendleton)? I'm looking to rent a room for potentially a few months. |

Compared to A+ how would you rate the difficulty of the Security+ test?

I'm not sure what boat were in. I wasn't really implying anything by that question. Just curious. If you are also just curious then I guess we are in the same boat.

I have been through the security+ class at my local community collage, i dont feel it prepared me properly for the CompTIA test so i haven't taken it($250 on the line). I have A+

Re: Choof Gets A Job 2: A Better Contract
So basically it is actually a real test? I'm aware that the A+ is a joke so I was wondering if the Security+ was also a joke.

Security+ is a quite a bit more in depth than A+, and it's also more difficult than Network+ given that the foundations of security in networking force you to actually... know and understand concepts of networking itself, haha. You'll have to learn a bit more about intrusion detection systems, encryption systems/methodologies/servers (think: Kerberos/RADIUS), hardware security, etc. It's not a really difficult examination in terms of context/concept, but... from what I've read in the past, I've heard that the examination questions are annoyingly vague. I haven't opted into taking this examination, though. I'm looking to take my CCNA a little bit down the line. Just out of curiosity, what specifics did you learn? I would hope that they taught the basics of IDS, stenography, MAC/RBAC... etc Last edited by TC_Halogen; 04-30-2014 at 02:33 PM.. |

Halogen, its been about 3 years. Not that i forgot everything, ill take a quick look through the book tonight and point out what we actually covered. The book was large and we didnt hit everything.
The one bit of information i have is that out a class of roughly 20, 5 took the test the week of the final on the promise that if you passed the test, you were exempt from the final. 1 of 5 passed... I dont think the teacher did a good job IMO. Also, i know A+ is a joke.

Found out today that my tentative start date is in... a week and a half. This shit is going to be just as tedious as getting to Colorado was. I'll ask again, does anyone know of any rooms available near San Diego or Oceanside, CA? Frantically trying to find a place to stay. |
