Re: I can't decide. (PSP or DS Lite)
Reason 1 not to get a PSP: It plays movies. Good thing movie producers no longer make movies in UMD format because nobody was buying them.
Reason 2 not to get a PSP: Games. The ratio of good games to bad games is like 129310293 to one. Reason 1 to get a DS: Hilariously fun. Wi-fi out of the box. Innovative. Awesome. Reason 2 to get a DS: Because I said so. ~Squeek |

Re: I can't decide. (PSP or DS Lite)
The DS and PSP are completely different.
DS is more of a quirky game system. PSP is more of a traditional game system with kind of useless extras (oh an squeek, psp has wifi out of the box too. And it doesn't use dumbass friend codes)

Re: I can't decide. (PSP or DS Lite)
Nintendo's WiFi kinda sucks. First of all, the game set-up system is horrible. You can't tell what ping you get with other people, FRIEND CODES WHAT THE HELL, no gamertags, no good ranking systems (except Mario Kart DS's, which is so-so), clans, many games have limited multiplayer for WiFi... the only thing that's decent about it is that you can play people online in a game.
It's too user-friendly for its own good.

The majority of this thread is saying DS and I was heading towards that side anyway. I was just making sure that I am 100% about it and that I didn't by one and wished I had the PSP instead. Just Incase somebody here said something that made me go WOOOO OMG GETTING A PSP NOW. Anyway thanks for opinions guys, you have helped me out a lot. First games I will get (as its in a bundle deal) is Metroid Hunters, Sonic Rush and this care kit thingy with screen wipes and stuff. Comes to £140 odd pound which is a good deal. I can also by two other games and still be under the PSP price list. Thanks again guys.

ps3 is way too much money! cool it will have some good graphics but look at the games coming out for 360...halo 3, the new GTA, gears of war. i have 360 and i love it. if you even considered getting ps3 i would wait for a price drop first.

I mean that would just make the decision process far too difficult. PS this thread is about the handhelds, not the consoles. PPS he's probably already got the DSLite. ~Squeek |

Re: I can't decide. (PSP or DS Lite)
Metroid Prime Hunters isn't all that worthwhile when you consider all of the other games that are better than it. It's really overrated IMO. Single player is really short, and when you compare multiplayer to other FPS games out there, it could use a LOT of work.

I don't have the game so i can't say it's really good or anything but I'veplayed it a little and it seems pretty good for a handheld first-person shooter.

Re: I can't decide. (PSP or DS Lite)
I have almost all of the really popular DS titles including Rush.
I'd have to say the ones I got the most play time and fun out were Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros and Animal Crossing. Mario Kart is just really really well made and the online is excellent. Tons of replayability aswell. NSMB is too fun and there is a lot there, but I beat the game completely in a few days. The multiplayer minigames with 3 other people is the best part about this though. Animal Crossing wins simply because it's the only game that has no end. Every day when I play it there is something new happening. Sonic Rush is really fun but once you beat it, there isn't really anything left. I would recommend renting this and whoring the hell out of it until you beat it. Then again, you can get it cheap and the multiplayer is fun. Metroid kinda pissed me off. The single player is really bad. You spend the whole game going to the same levels and fighting the same enemies over and over. If you like FPSs then you'll love this online however. The voice chat is just amazingly cool. Wario ware is fun until you beat it.

Re: I can't decide. (PSP or DS Lite)
I found a japanese copy of Tenchu DS at the Fry's that I go to. Good price for some of their imported DS games. The thing is that since Tenchu DS is a japanese online DS game, you can only play against other japanese copies of the game. I might wait until the US version of the game comes out.
Ose! Tatakae! Ouendan! is also a good pick, but since they're changing the story (along with the names, characters, events, and music) for a US release, you're going to have to have it out yourself with that one. If you like Asain Kung Fu Generation, L'Arc~En~Ciel, and other music like that then get the japanese version (Ose! Tatakae! Ouendan!). If you don't then get the US version (Elite Beat Agents). Re: I can't decide. (PSP or DS Lite)
Nope, no problems at all. I love my DS because of that.
One note SethSquall, if you have a japanese game card (let's say the new Tenchu game for example) and your friend wants to play you online but he/she has a US game card, you will not be able to connect to your friend for that game. Both you and your friend MUST have the same version of that game card in order to play each other (wi-fi or local multi-card). Now, if you have a japanese game card that allows multiplayer with one game card, then you have nothing to worry about. Everyone can easily download and play the game from their DS. http://uk.codejunkies.com/news_revie...=17&i=8952&s=8 ^ This is pretty cool I might get one. (the price I found at Fry's was $125) It also runs homebrewed games too. |
