Lygers?
So we're talking, and the movie Napolean Dynamite comes into the conversation somehow.
It's a gay movie, from what I understand. Although I've been told there are some pretty hilarious parts in there, there just not worth the wait of all the extra crap that gets tossed in the middle...not to mention the movie supposedly lacks a plot...that's not movie material..that's life. Anyways, we come to the part of the movie, where (Jon Heder's character)..draws what he calls a "Lyger" ... Without thinking about it, we search for "Liger" on Google, and actually come up with an animal...in an actual zoo...called a Liger. Now not all is this amazing, but these mothers are seriously HUGE, and an obvious mix, of a lion and a tiger. They're hilaciously sweet though, so I thought I would share it with everyone, I find it interesting. Something that makes you just say "wow, holy crap"... Regular animals, shit...they're nothing. The link has been provided below...tell me whatcha think http://www.sierrasafarizoo.com/animals/liger.htm I now await the Rhinopottamus ...Hey, it could happen.

Hmm..
What did I lose?... I hate you folk who waste your time trying to discourage people on forums...
Although if that's all you have to do with your time, than I suppose I'm not the one who should be discouraged

RE: Re: RE: Lygers?
There are tigons too, they are from the opposite sexual pairing of a lion and tiger.

Ligers are sweet, she fails to mention that it was Me, her, and my brother having this conversation. And I was the one who went searching for it.
She should of provided pictures and shit just to show how big one of these things really is. here is a link from the Animal Planet web Page. http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/ni...oto_zoom5.html (should shut sudden up) Images: http://www.tigers-animal-actors.com/pom/liger.jpg http://www.tigers-animal-actors.com/...r/ligerkrf.JPG http://www.tigers-animal-actors.com/...ligerstand.JPG This thing is huge. Weighing about 900 pounds, which is more than any Tiger/Lion would ever get.

Too bad they can't mate, just like mules.

RE: Re: RE: Lygers?
ACTUALLY, there has been one case where there was born a fertile Liger. So who knows what could happen. Maybe one day another will come and people will start to breed ligers. That would be sweet.

RE: Re: RE: Lygers?
Yes, but that is as uncommon as a sterile tiger or a sterile lion; they happen occasionally, but they would have to go through hundereds of li(y?)gers.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Lygers?
eh.. it the opposite of the Liger combination. Instead of the mother tiger father lion, its a mother lion father tiger. Not really harder to breed for, I wouldn't think. But Tigons don't get to be as big as a Liger, Yes the correct spelling is L-I-G-E-R., so they aren't really as important to me.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Lygers?
They are much harder to breed, actually.
Tigons are very rare; only a few exist in the world, and even those are only held by private owners. This is because it is much more difficult to get the male tiger to mate with the female lion. Tigons look similar to ligers. They have varying stripes and spots. Tigons are also orangish in color. Male offspring may have a mane, but will be very modest. They are able to produce both lion and tiger sounds when they roar. One difference between tigons and ligers is their size. Tigons are not nearly as large as ligers. In fact, tigons are often times smaller than both of their parents. The lifespan of tigons, as well as other hybrid animals, is shorter than a normal species. The animals seem prone to cancers and other illnesses. A good site to see cross-breed animals. |
