Re: Misc. progress thread
I've been able to supinate my right hand a little more each day -- most normal function has returned and the pain has almost vanished, whew. I was really worried I tore something.
But yeah no more straight-bar bicep curls for me. Too hard on the wrists. Last edited by Reincarnate; 04-3-2015 at 11:04 PM.. |

Re: Misc. progress thread
I got back into working out for a few weeks and managed to hurt my shoulder. I'm not sure what I did but it's definitely the joint and even simple things like showering are painful. I'm really upset that I can't keep working out. Getting it checked out next week. Hopefully it's not serious

Re: Misc. progress thread
I just started working out recently, joined a gym, made some goals. My friend Erin went to the gym with me today and showed me some pretty awesome lifting exercises.
I felt super accomplished because I was lifting the same weight she was on a lot of the exercises. First ever deadlifts, and I was doing 65lbs and know I could do more pretty easily with regular workouts. She was also pretty amazed at how quickly I picked stuff up. Hopefully gonna post here a bit more regularly with some updates and stuff 8) |

Re: Misc. progress thread
the main downside of alcohol is that it's a quick way to add lots of fat to your frame, especially when you're having several drinks a night

Re: Misc. progress thread
Arch: I haven't read up on this to know the fine details or anything, but apparently the body prefers to metabolize alcohol before tapping into other fat or carbohydrate stores. I assume, though (as you might be implying), that as long as one isn't binge drinking it's probably not a big issue. I figure otherwise it's just a macronutrient to be factored into the daily numbers like any other.

Re: Misc. progress thread
sort of, the returns on explaining it get diminishing really fast though when what you said is more or less a sound principle to act on
if you wanna drink and keep gains or read about drinking and gains in general, this is the best article on lifting and alcohol I've read: http://bayesianbodybuilding.com/science-binge-drinking/ |

Re: Misc. progress thread
Went on a 3.9m RT hike with some hefty elevation gain today with some friends. Didn't get through it quickly, but I got through it, and with a mildly sprained ankle at that. Felt great to be able to do that though, honestly. Don't remember the last time I've been able to do something like that.

Damn dude, you're killing it. Keep it up.
I stopped cutting for a bit. Took a break because of how busy I've been, focused on strength and flexibility. Really want to improve my flexibility again. My goal is to be able to do the splits again like I could years ago. Right now I'm doing 20 minutes of stretching at least once a day. Seeing results only a week in, though I'm a bit sore at times haha.

Re: Misc. progress thread
Had my first "holy shit" moment tonight.
For a while now, I've been unable to detect any physical change in myself visually -- I feel like I still look the same. Other people have been telling me that they notice it in my face or whatever, but I still have fat everywhere in the same places, so from my perspective, not much has changed. The only real change has been the loosening of my pants. Those things are constantly falling off my ass even though I just bored another hole into the belt. So I know it's working -- I just can't see anything. Until today! I had an event tonight where I had to wear a suit jacket / dress shirt / slacks. And holy crap, I noticed a big difference. In the past, I hated wearing dress shirts + slacks in particular because my gut always stuck out over the top of my belt and looked like shit. Normally I'd pull up on the dress shirt a bit to make it "baggier" at the bottom so the curves weren't so blatant. But today I didn't have to do any of that because nothing was sticking out! Everything looked flat. For once I didn't have to waste 10 minutes figuring out how to hide stuff. Last edited by Reincarnate; 04-18-2015 at 10:41 PM.. |

Re: Misc. progress thread
massive progress so far but that's to be expected if I told you the details of all the stuff I'm doing / taking. facebook me if you're curious
don't want to post any specific stats because they could be outdated literally 4 weeks after this post I will say this: forearm increased by .5in circumference in 6 weeks of training. considering that's been my weakest muscle area by far I'm really satisfied with that progress. Re: Misc. progress thread
i noticed some awesome definition in my calves today. never had that much definition before. also noticed my triceps being defined when flexing. same with biceps (that's been there a few days, but it's getting more noticeable)
apparently i also look a lot thinner. I don't really see it yet, but I'm sure i'll get there. i also had super awesome skull crushers today that made me super happy did 3x10 at 30lbs (lol weak triceps and also female) on both those and close grip presses with almost no problem. i figure that's pretty awesome progress for only doing this a couple weeks
