Yupp it's allowed, you can turn invisible browsing on in your user settings if you don't want people to be able to see it for you

Eh, I always leave myself visible since I'd be seen by staff either way so it might as well be public information. Just want to make sure I won't get modkilled if I make any of these observations

on these forums, you're able to set your online status to invisible, preventing anyone but moderators from seeing you as actively viewing a thread. as you can opt-in or out of this feature at any time, we've left it open for reading of players.
