Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
something tells me I shouldn't be stepping easy songs again
suggestions on making a fun easy chart? So far, it's either too "boring" or too "hard due to too much variation" Last edited by bmah; 01-10-2011 at 11:39 AM.. |

Safe assumptions to be honest. This is based off of playing the easier songs a lot and stepping a handful.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
What about the "fun" aspect for an easy song. Say, difficulty 4-6.
And a song that's mostly 8th notes with few 16ths. It would be a song that can sound nice, but is relatively constrained in what I can step. It wouldn't be a song in which I have to artificially make it too easy. I know this should be basic but it seems like I'm being shot from both ends (boring > increase variety and therefore difficulty; too wide of a range in difficulty > decrease layering and variety and therefore increase boringness). I don't usually step easy songs, but easy was my theme for my submissions this time. Last edited by bmah; 01-10-2011 at 01:10 PM.. |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
This batch isn't as good as the last one (uh oh!)
bmah for easier files it's better to broadly follow the song. it's not often that a song will deliver a melody to follow that's consistently simple or would warrant an easier difficulty. It's better to step the feel of the music with 8ths etc. I actually find it harder to make really good easy files than more complex charts lmao.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
anybody can step an easy chart, the only tricky part is actually making it interesting to playthrough and not just throwing 4th and 8th notes wherever you feel like it.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
I think it's infinitely easier to step easier charts but that's probably cause I suck at layering

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
it's easier to make a functional easy chart than a functional hard chart but it's much more difficult to make a good easy chart than a good hard chart

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
Ok, I know it's not easy to make a "fun easy chart", but are there any specific tips other than song choice? (I'm also not throwing random arrows like DDR pad files)
maybe I should be asking the people who play these files - what makes an easy file fun? Also started judging stuff. Initial impressions = |

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
if you step for thirdstyle then you have to make an easy and hard chart for everything (thirdstyle plug sup) (ffr's way of tieing charts to songs status: still broken) (when is multiple charts per song going to be institutionalized in ffr? inquiring minds wish 2 kno)
