In The Groove Calorie Count.
Okay so I was trying out the ITG fitness mode on the home version. It says I burned 2060 calories. It only took me about 30-40 minutes. I don't think this calorie count is true. Is there a formula or equation where I can find out the real calories I burned? I weight 145 btw.
Thanks, Eric.

It's a pretty big overestimation. Just know that you're burning a hell of a lot of calories when you play

Re: In The Groove Calorie Count.
Yeah, burning 2000 calories in less than an hour is a gross overestimation. Unhealthy too.
There probably isn't an accurate way for you to count calories while playing ITG because there are multiple variables to take into account that you can't accurately measure unless you were doing this in a lab. Not like you should be worried about calories though...lol. >_> |

Nice! If I were to do that, I'd order a Pizza Hut stuffed crust pepperoni lovers pizza and eat it all and it's like I never even ate anything.

Yeah, it says i burn like 5000-8000 calories per session. XD
It calculates per step I'm pretty sure. |

Re: In The Groove Calorie Count.
Here's a fun fact that I learned in Biology last week: Every 3500 Calories you eat gains you a pound. I guess losing that much makes you lose a pound too.
Here's an activity calculator I found on Google: http://primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/...e/calculat.htm I understand 500+, but 2,000 just seems ridiculous. You'd get a heart attack doing cardio-like things and losing this much calories in a 30 minute workout.

Re: In The Groove Calorie Count.
I'm just not sure about all of this. When I was playing ITG at the arcade, he told me a formula, I just can't remember it.

Re: In The Groove Calorie Count.
I wonder who this "he" is. You probably need to play 2 hours of serious ITG to lose even close to that. But then, you'll just run out of energy.
Oh wow, I just discovered if I play 2 hours of tennis I could lose 1,175 calories. Talk about serious workout.

Re: In The Groove Calorie Count.
When I play ITG at the arcades, I lose about 1000 calories an hour. 2060 in 30 minutes is impossible unless you're a machine.

Yeah it goes per note. It doesn't take anything into account except your weight (well I think anyway).

Re: In The Groove Calorie Count.
There are only two variables in the factoring of the calories that you use, and that is calories lost due to your weight for ONE step and step count. There is never an unknown variable. So, it's pretty safe to say it's not accurate.
So, basically, nx(s) Where N is your weight, x is your amount of calories lost per step and s is the step count. I think that's right... |

Re: In The Groove Calorie Count.
Ugh, why even have this system if it's not even correct? But I guess I'll just play 2 hours worth then.

Re: In The Groove Calorie Count.
They have it just to have something, but there's no way to really determine the true calorie count without factoring in other variables that you can't just type in to a machine. It has to be an average of all the different skill levels of players, so that it's the most accurate for the most people. They have to consider that lots of people take gigantic steps and pound on the machine, making every step burn more calories than a high-level expert player with great technique. However, that expert player takes more of an aerobic beating, so to speak, which makes his calorie count pretty independent from the step count and more about the time played.
If I were to try to get an accurate estimation I'd use one of the calorie tracker utilities and look up running at some sort of equivalent speed, because that's the most similar exercise IMO.

Re: In The Groove Calorie Count.
ITG is still an awesome work out. And to be told you burned 2060 isn't a bad thing. It may be over zealous but it's certainly not a bad thing. At least you have been doing it.
This is funny. As I've made a work out routine. 2 Hour ITG a day. (this alone would be enough for me personally) 2 Hour Rock Band drums a day. Walk for half hour. Win. Seriously, working out is fun. It's not the same as going down the gym or doing weights blah blah blah but I'm telling you it's more than enough for anyone to stay fit.

Re: In The Groove Calorie Count.
im guessing that realistically playing on heavy, playing level 8s+ for an hour you would burn about 700-800 calories depending on your weight.

Imagine someone who is like 200 lb or so who plays a level 13 song that has about 800 steps. O_O
That is a lot of calories lost. >.> |
