Hello! I've got a couple questions...
It's good to be here
I have a couple of questions for the FFR community. I've checked out all the stickies, and have yet to find answers to these questions: 1) All of my forum posts are backwards! When I click on a thread, the last post in the thread shows up first. How can I change this? 2) This is my most important question. How can I change the global offset of the notes in ffr? The notes appear a tenth of a second earlier than the music, and it makes AAA's very difficult. This affects my desktop speakers, headphones, and laptop speakers. It's not my hardware either, since I have a Core 2 Extreme X6800 with a GTX 260. 3) I understand the concept of tier points, but I don't quite know what the structure "a (x + y for b AAAs)" means, exactly. Could someone tell me what each of the variables I've labeled represents? I'm pretty sure b is just the number of AAAs you have total, but I don't know about the others. 4) Where do I get a tier points sig? Is this available on the site after you get at least a point? (I know this is jumping the gun, but I'm close to getting a couple tier points already). |

Re: Hello! I've got a couple questions...
You can't change one and two, but I know nothing about tier points so I can't help with the other two.

Re: Hello! I've got a couple questions...
I think you manually check for tiers to know what you got... but I don't know too much about tier myself.
As for number one, you CAN change that. You go to FFR Forum... User CP... Edit Options. Last edited by ~kitty~; 01-10-2009 at 01:47 PM.. |

http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...do=editoptions 1. Go in there and then scroll down to thread display mode. Change it to Linear - Oldest First. 2. There is no way to change global offset. Sorry. 3. 'A' is how many total Tier Points you have at the moment. 'X' is how many TPs you've obtained just from playing songs on the list. It is independent of the bonus TPs that represent 'Y'. Bonus TPs from Y are obtained by AAAing songs. I think the first bonus point is awarded after 200 total AAAs. These AAAs include both public and token levels. Let's use my TPs just to clarify everything. Tier Points: 252 (221 + 31 for 507 AAAs) I have 252 total TPs, 221 from songs on the list, and my bonus is an extra 31 TPs because I have 507 total AAAs. There is a thread located in General Talk that details even more if you still have questions. Here's the thread: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=64820 4. Not sure where to get the TP sig. Last edited by foilman8805; 01-10-2009 at 01:53 PM.. |

Must be one of those things I can't do from my phone.
Welcome to the site, by the way. |

Re: Hello! I've got a couple questions...
Thanks for helpful responses, guys (and girls). Finally, the world seems to be right-side up again
It's too bad that the global offset is unchangeable. It's almost unbearable, but I guess I'll have to forgo AAA's until I find some solution. Does anyone else have this problem? How about the tier sig? Eventually I'll overcome this sound problem and start racking up tier points, so it would be nice to have. |

Yeah, and trust me, it's not easy either.
I admire your ambition, musicdemon, but it will be a long road. We all gotta start somewhere though, right? |

Re: Hello! I've got a couple questions...
You're quite welcome, musicdemon. Take your time with the many, many levels here, and good luck battling your troubles with the sync; as it cannot be manually altered, it will just be something you'll have to get used to.
Well, not all of us. |

Re: Hello! I've got a couple questions...
About the offset: if you have Vista that might be the problem. Vista tends to lag FFR making AAAing songs a lot harder. If you don't then I'm not sure what the problem is, however if you really want some AAA's you can always play with the volume off.

Re: Hello! I've got a couple questions...
Thanks for the tip, Quigly! I am using Vista. I'll go switch to XP and see if the sync is better.
EDIT: CONFIRMED. Vista is the culprit here. The arrows scroll so smoothly now!!! This has made such a difference. Yesterday I tried to AAA Computer Dreams about 20 times, but failed miserably because I had to anticipate each note and step 1/10 of a second faster than the music. It was really frustrating because I am quite good with rhythm games and hand-eye coordination. I was accepted into the All-State choir back in high school, so I know how to hold a beat I tried Computer Dreams again a minute ago and was shocked that it went so well...until I got a blackhat on the last note and uttered a string of expletives that would make a sailor blush.

Ah, so it is backflag. I guess I'm having flashbacks from Computer Concepts last semester

Re: Hello! I've got a couple questions...
I have a few tier points, but nowhere near the amount needed to actually achieve T4. The people up there are bat-sh*t crazy good at this game compared to me, to say nothing of those higher up on the list. Most of the ones I have are by full comboing songs that are worth 5 if you get all perfects, but I think I achieved 2 out of 6 on one song when I accidentally got arrow slowdown (how was I supposed to know safe mode would induce that state?), and I also went insane when I got 88 goods and 3 boos in a full combo on Lawn Wake 4 (worth 6 if AAAed, I believe).
Good luck, see you around. Post scriptum: Nice Zealot avatar.

Re: Hello! I've got a couple questions...
Considering how difficult it will be to full combo some of these songs and how far I have to go, I'm not going to spend too much time on it. Thanks for the grand welcome, my new friends

Re: Hello! I've got a couple questions...
If you want a handful of tier points to your name, consider the following:
1. Combo as much of the following songs as you can: Death Piano, Grand Gallop Chromatique, Crowdpleaser, Revolutionary Etude, One Minute Waltz, Molto Vivace, The Adventures of Lolo, Frictional Nevada, Blue Rose, Ketsarku Mozgalom, Eclipse {Solar}, Reality, Pants (secret), Electro Rush X8 v2 (token). These songs all give you tier points for partial FCs depending on how high a score you get, which is determined by max combo + accuracy. So find the longest stretch you can FC, even if you have to mash a bit to do so, and PA (perfect attack) outside of that. 2. Full combo the following songs with the PA you can manage: The Games we Played part 1 and 3. An FC on either is worth one tier point, and if it's 40 goods or less that's another tier point, etc. You can also have a shot at the one /4, Dazzling Destiny (FC Dazzling Soul to unlock) and all the /5s, see if you can come close to any of those. Air and Love Coloured Master Spark are the slowest but the longest. Don't fret if you can't get any tier points, though; it's designed to distinguish higher end players. EDIT: Also, if you're not already using a higher speedmod, think about it; it has a two-pronged effect of increasing the breadth of the perfect window as it appears on the screen and spacing patterns out to make them easier to read. As long as it's not faster than your reactions it's a definite improvement.
