Would it be fair to call this a 14?
The following is considered a 14:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyrzWp3BTiM I'm thinking about changing some of the triplets around so they're not so crossovery. Would you still consider it a 14 if I did so? Stats are 191BPM, 2315 steps (166 jumps) over 6 minutes.

There isn't really a definite difficulty chart. There is no way to accurately judge it to everyones likings.

Re: Would it be fair to call this a 14?
This is true, but i think everyone judges difficulty based on the original itg charts. So if a file is harder than Pandy its 13> etc... Even though some people may not be able to beat Pandy its still a good indicator of whats "considered" a 13 by the Roxor Company lol.

Re: Would it be fair to call this a 14?
It's a 14 as is. I'm pretty solid on that.
I too have seen 12s that are harder than this. It's those charts that are misrated. Uber Rave is a good example of something potentially misrated. Sure, the beginning's easy, but people will pass 13s long before they can finish that chart. Holy Orders is rated 11, but should be 14, maybe 15 (I don't play it much, so I can't say, but I know it's 14 or over). If I revised the crossovers in Industrial Strength, I'd wonder if it'd be worth calling a 14 anymore. A 13 at lowest. I really like it, as it pushes me just to complete, but is good enough that I can actually complete it every time. The crossovers bug me, but I don't want to make it lose its "oomph" by doing so. And what Halogen was saying is right. Pad is different from keyboard, with the MASSIVE difference being endurance. I could probably get over 10,000 combo no problem doing 170BPM 16ths on keyboard, solid. Call it maybe a 13? Sounds fine. It's not that fast, really. But doing that on pad? HAHA. I couldn't even give it a proper rating, as I can't play charts that hard. 16? 17? I dunno. In songs like Industrial Strength, stamina is a very limiting factor. Yeah, sure, you can combo 190BPM 16th streams, but can you keep it up, on-and-off, for 6 minutes? 14.

Re: Would it be fair to call this a 14?
Honestly, if you saw a song rated a 12 and it was really really hard, either it is..
A. Index-able KB file B. Stepper can't rate files C. A random guess before trying the song Overall, players such as me and Halogen could call nearly any difficulty up to about 16 without a doubt (even Zero can and he doesn't play pad). P.s. Izzy, you're an idiot Yea because everyone wouldn't notice the 2200 step count when any legit 4 doesn't have more than 200 steps in it.. or the fact that it's under expert and if the theme on there machine was good, they would see the time length of 6 mins. |

Just the fact that you can do that at all on pad is amazing to me.

Re: Would it be fair to call this a 14?
someone should clarify the foot ratings for each of the most know scales
DCP scale DDR scale FFR scale ITG scale and so on, with something we can all relate to like death piano as a 15 footer on the dcp scale or something.

It's long, it's got severe BPM changes, mines, very quick steps, what's not 14+ about it?
Go full combo it. |

Re: Would it be fair to call this a 14?
There are lots of parts that go on for an extended period of time that are around 8 or 9 level. It's too inconsistent. I'll admit some parts require a decent amount of stamina to make it through, but that's all the player needs: Stamina. There are breaks in between difficult sections that allow the player to get a breather. The runs are mostly composed of simple patterns.
In my opinion, it could pass off as a 13. The only things backing up it's difficulty are the length of the song and those pretty nasty sections between 3:27 and 4:30. Anyone who frequently plays 13s as regular songs or warm ups isn't going to be too taxed by this, and the stream patterns don't have any curve balls. To me, the crucial element that separates 13s from 14s are complex patterns, but that might be my personal bias from playing PIU where higher difficulties and unusual patterns go hand-in-hand. |
