Final Fantasy- Top 5 Most useful/useless Characters

My boredom has inspired me to make this thread. Ive been playing a lot of Final Fantasy again and I figured, why not make a thread to see what others thinks are the 5 most useful and 5 most useless characters from Final Fantasy's 7-10 not including 10 x2

Top 5 Useful

1. Barret
2. Irvine
3. Cloud
4. Auron
5. Garnet

Top 5 Useless

1. Cait Sith
2. Vincent
3. Zell
4. Quina
5. Yuffie

The reason I put Vincent in this category was because, other then exploiting the Death Penalty bug, hes just a decent hitter. He doesn't get a superb amount of magic power at all. Yuffie is just useless.

What are your thoughts FFR?

ive put in a good bit of time into 9, and i have to say Quina doesnt suck. if you have the right blue magic, quina will end up saving your ass. garnet is only good for her summons, so if you have her up there just for those, then thats pathetic.

would you please put your reasons for having the characters up there so that there might be something more to discuss

The big reason for Barret is because

he technically is the biggest damage dealer in all of Final Fantasy 7
If you give him the Missing Score and a Wizard Bracelet, or a Mystile if you have it you can just throw a butt ton of Counter=Mimes together and set your limit to Ungarmax. 1 Full round of 8 Ungarmax's and do close to if not over 1 million damage (emerald weapon for refrence)

Garnets Summons are rather well. For being low on physical strength, her summons and magic make up for it in a big way. Quina is good, It's just the blue magic really only saves you if your levels are not amazing. All though I do like Big Guard and White Wind x)

And for Squall, I meant to put Irvine up there instead lmfao.

Irvines AP ammo is just brutal against anything, and if you have a high speed on him, you can easily dock 8 shots of 9999 damage.

If you want to get into technicalities, the best Final Fantasy Character is most likely Barret. Although, if it wasn't for the materia combinations that you can throw onto him, id probably say Cloud, or Irvine.

Not to many people understand Irvine in the least on FF8. Get him the Bismarck, and he is already a power house (with decent magic junction of course), and then limit break him with AP ammo, and hes godly.

I have played Final Fantasy forever. I love all the games. Honestly, though, the best character in all the final fantasies would definitely be cloud. I NEVER used Barret mainly in any of my gameplays on FF7. My ending party always consisted of Cloud, Tifa, and either Vincent or Red XIII. Tifa is a madhouse with her fists and combos for her limit. However, Clouds Omnislash is just the sickest limit I've seen in the Final Fantasy series. The only thing that comes close, would be Blitz Ace, but thats nothing compared equally.

My ending parties:

Squall
Irvine
Zell

9:
Zidane
Steinner
Freya
Vivi (possibly Amarant)

10:
Tidus
Auron
Yuna : mainly because if you get her all the way around the sphere grid, she's killing monsters not only with her aeons, but her freakin staff too!!!

Those were my main parties, 12 I dont even consider cause to me, honestly it was not the best Final Fantasy game ever released. Which brings me to a question, what do you think is the best FF game ever released and why?

well my fav. character is cloud because omg that spiky hair hes so cute and so badass! i wanna have his babies and ff7 is the best cuz...well cloud rulez!!!!!

...Seriously though, the most useful Final Fantasy Character ever would have to be the Ninja from Final Fantasy 3 (NES). Shuriken's did sick damage in that game.

the best FF ever was 6. you cant include 12 in this list because when it comes down to it, anyone can equip anything for the majority.

thing sucks if you don't include all the final fantasies.

Screw it, I didn't like it. The highest I got was Tifa/Barret/Cid

8:

Squall: His lionheart procced all the time, and was extremely reliable.

Irvine: Easy damage with the bullets. I sometimes swap him out for Rinoa.

Selphie or whatever her name was: her The End and Rapture happened a lot, and even if it didnt I could get something high powered off. Yes I know Zell can do damage infinitely if you want to, because hes better than any of them, but I dont care, I don't like Zell.

9: I didnt get very far. It was a weak return to the fantasy of 1-6, and I couldnt get into it.

I liked the main guy though. the others were rotational.

10:

Why do we count 10 you can max out the sphere boards and have exact same characters.

I never use irvine out of how ****ing gay he is, squall/zell/quistis

7 cloud/barret/tifa *it varies from time to time, sometimes I'll do a cloud only game ect.

9 zidane/vivi/steiner

10 tidus/auron/rikku *sometimes swap rikku for yuna or lulu

I couldn't get into 11 >.>

12 bacsh/vaan/ashe****

I think final fantasy 6 had the best story line. General Leo was just amazing.

Over all though, my opinion would be 7 was the best.

FF 7:
Cloud - Default character and omnislash did quite a large amount of damage. Only thing annoying about him was that his power got really weak as his HP depleted.
Barret - The largest damage dealer compared to everyone else and his Limit Break was pretty powerful.
Cid - idk, at this point I pretty much have anyone, the last time I played this game I think I had cid. He's another large damage dealer and his Limit break is alright.
(Essentially the only thing that really mattered at the end of the game for me were the ultimate weapon effects of the players and their Limit Breaks. I would grind for hours inside the Crashed Gelinka, and got it to the point where all these characters had all stats at 255.)

FF 8:
Squall - Lion Heart was really powerful but the chances of actually getting it as a final blow were pretty small.
Irvine - AP ammo deals a massive amount of damage, he's very useful.
Quistis - She was very good for leveling up, because you could just keep her at low health, go to Island closet to hell or heaven or w/e, and just have her use degenerator which is a one hit kill. Having this makes leveling up incredibly easy, and I just got everyone to 100 in like a day.

FF 9:
Zidane - Default character
Steiner+Vivi - If you had steiner you kind of had to have Vivi alongside him. Steiner's physical attacks dealt a lot of damage, and Vivi's black magic was very powerful.
Eiko - She had very useful restorative magic and Holy was a pretty powerful spell.

FF 10: Since every one of my characters had 255 stats, it didn't matter who I used. The only thing that differentiates these characters at this point is their overdrives. so....
Tidus - blitz ace
Wakka - attack reels
Yuna - I just used her because she could summon, and summons were cool.
ps. Anyone who picked Auron lmfao his overdrive is atrocious.

FF 11: I forget who I used, I'm still playing it haha. I think I had Ashe, Basch, and Vaan.

Also since the Final Fantasy games are generally easy, it really doesn't matter who you use haha.
