Re: How To Get Accepted Into The FFR Community
well, even as a new guy, I love the fact that a thread like this exists. Every forum I end up in seems to be full of the God-awful spelling/grammar, and the usual amount of outright disrespect for the people who've been here a while already. It's nice to know that someone actually gives a damn about how people act on the internet. Good stuff man, good stuff.

We pride ourselves on being a site whose members have an above average intelligence, for the most part.... for teenagers.
Little elitist too.

Re: How To Get Accepted Into The FFR Community
I don't know exactly what to think of the post.
I mean, it's funny. Because I catch a hint (or slightly more) of sarcasm... but being a noob myself, it's slightly offensive. Though I suppose I should just appreciate the time you've taken to spell it out for those who can't use common sense to conjure up these rules themselves and not take it personally. I'd say it's funny. As for grammer. (I only skimmed the first page) I doubt anyone in real need of reading that section would catch the mistake if ya know what I mean. : ]

Re: How To Get Accepted Into The FFR Community
being a noob, i think you should tone it down a little. these rules are a tad too strict. in other forums i've been in, they were much more lenient and carefree. as long as you DUN TYP LYK D1S, and you don't put others down, that should be all you need.
maybe i'm a little too nice, but it just seems that if you don't have perfect spelling and grammar, you're shunned. feel free to disagree. |

Re: How To Get Accepted Into The FFR Community
You type like one of our admins. Tasselfoot.
I don't mind your post at all. Capitalization isn't nearly as important as punctuation and spelling. The primary one that gets most of us grammarians is "u". Ugh. But honestly, that's perfectly fine by my standards, and most would consider my standards a bit extreme. ps - these aren't rules; they're guidelines. |

Hm? What really was the point of that post? Did you not read what Tps222 said? Make your posts contribute to the thread otherwise you might not be well liked.
And if you want to introduce yourself, you can make a new topic.

Re: How To Get Accepted Into The FFR Community
I do admit that now a day newbs are lacking correct grammer, respect, self-respect, and a vass amounts of stupidity. Yes I may be a 17 year old and although my gammer isn't the best, I still try to make sense while typing out my words correctly. I may have just joined, but that doesn't mean this is my first time on here. I've been playing a lot of the songs you guys and girls have for the past 3 months now; yet I just accually became a member a couple days ago. All I'm saying is, in this world there are newbs who act like 13 year olds who think they have to be cool and live up to everyone's expectation's; then you have the other newbs who have common sense and know what is right from wrong and do have a decent head on their shoulder's.

Re: How To Get Accepted Into The FFR Community
How to get accepted?
I disagree. It's more like, how not to get made fun of. Even if you do say something intelligable or funny, you get ignored if you're not someone important or well known. and if you say anything remotely stupid everyone makes fun of you. Kind of discouraging. I prefer staying an anonymous reader most of the time. Like, oh TWG. I don't think I could play but I follow along. Pfft. As is life, though. hah.

Re: How To Get Accepted Into The FFR Community
[indent]After looking at this sticky I imideatly went to the main page in this forum. I noticed that there were a massive amount of threads from people simply wanting to introduce themselves. I was about to make one myself but then I realized it would contribute nothing to the forum. In my opinion (I appologise if I am wrong) these threads get in the way of users and are just anoyances. Are these threads apropriate to post in this or any other FFR forum? If there is a forum for threads like that please notify me. I would also like to sugest a sticky for this forum just to let new players introduce themselves.

Re: How To Get Accepted Into The FFR Community
Most of you are right. These are rather strict guidelines. I originally wrote them to try and prevent the increasing amount of flaming that new members were receiving.
I didn't mean for people not to post if they don't have anything to say that they feel could be interpreted as unimportant or useless. The newbie forum is a perfectly acceptable place to introduce oneself and to ask questions on things you may be confused on. We aren't out to purposely attack new members (most aren't at least). Just try to act decently intelligent. It's something we pride ourselves in, and it feels good to be a part of it. As long as reading your posts doesn't cause our heads to explode, you're fine in most occasions. I was simply just giving advice to all of you. Posting is a weird thing. At the time I make the post, I feel like I had typed it rather well. I'll then come back some number of months after, and realize how improper my grammar actually was. Anyways, my best advice to getting accepted is to just be respectful, think about what would annoy you, and just contribute whatever knowledge or personality you have to the site. If you are looking for a place to just post in a comical manner and jokingly criticize people, the garbage bin is the perfect place to go. Its located at the bottom of the forum. Note: Almost everyone in there is sarcastic about everything. PS: I'm sorry if I sound like I'm almost "talking down" to the newer member. I need to work on that. |
