Guess the Game from the Screenshot
Now with coolness.
Rules: 1) Whoever gets the right answer gets to post the next screenshot. 2) If you have the game title in the filename, you are automatically disqualified from ever playing the game again and your post will be deleted. I will post the next image, in such a case. 3) You must supply, in addition to the game title, at least 2 of the following in order to win a round: Game designer/publisher, system, release year (JP or USA), or genre. This is to ensure that you actually know what you're talking about. Personally, genre and system seem easiest to me. 4) If no one gets the answer correct within 2 days, the round will end without a winner. I will then post the next picture, along with what the last one was, in the monumentally unlikely case that I did not already know. 5) I will only post after at least five other people have guessed incorrectly. This is to prevent me from winning every round immediately. 6) You are only allowed two guesses per round. 7) NO PC GAMES. Violation of this rule will have the same consequences as violation of rule #2. This does not mean you cannot post screenshots from emulators, however. Please feel free to. 8) You may not post games from the following genres: FPS, RTS, Sports, or Wrestling. These are all way too easy. 9) You may not post any of the following series: GTA, Halo, Final Fantasy, any first party Nintendo series, or Sonic. 10) I reserve the right to disqualify any game for any reason at all, most likely for ease of guessing. In this event, I will post the next screenshot. 11) If you post a StepMania screenshot I will get LD to ban you from the site permanently. All right, with those simple rules out of the way, let's begin! Round 1 Last edited by Moogy; 03-8-2006 at 03:25 PM.. |

Re: Guess the Game from the Screenshot
There are too many rules and obscure japanese games that Moogy has a vast knowledge of to make this any fun. I'd take the other thread over this =/
My guess is Galaga.

Re: Guess the Game from the Screenshot
Ikaruga. Nintendo Gamecube. Shooter (or Action)
Special note: turn the TV on its side while playing & it will look like a traditional shooter! =O |

Re: Guess the Game from the Screenshot
Definitely not Ikaruga. Failure.
Also, Ikaruga was originally for the arcade, then appeared on the Dreamcast. Duh. Also, the correct genre would be "shmup," not shooter. Mal: Rofl, Galaga is for like, the Atari. PS: Yes, this entire thread is an excuse for me to be elitist. |

And we love you for it.
I'm pretty sure I know what game this is, but I don't know which game of this game it is. If that makes any sense. |

Re: Guess the Game from the Screenshot
It's not any game in the Raiden series.
Do those graphics really look like SNES graphics? I realize the picture is low-res, but please, have some common sense. |

Re: Guess the Game from the Screenshot
The addition of the phrase "I believe" in your post makes me think you were trying to appear intelligent.
I'll have none of that on my watch! Man, it feels good to know way more about games than anyone else ever. |

Damn, I found it. Too bad I already got my try.
EDIT: " Man, it feels good to know way more about games than anyone else ever." That's not something I'd be proud of, really.

Re: Guess the Game from the Screenshot
All those games everyone guessed are pretty much the same.
Except Galaga/Space Invaders. Those aren't even close. But yeah, all top perspective flight shooter games aren't very different at all. I think a rule should be instated that games should be mainstream to a certain degree. If this game is none of those guessed, it surely is some obscure game that many of us has never even heard of.

Re: Guess the Game from the Screenshot
Alright, whatever. I picked something far too obscure for anyone to guess.
It's DoDonPachi DaiOuJou for the PS2, developed by Cave. Just be glad I didn't post ESP Galuda or something rofl. Omega is posting the next one. Also, Afro, I could post an at least 10 page essay on the differences in gameplay mechanics between say, Ibara, and DoDonPachi, but I won't. Ikaruga I could write a 100 page essay, easily. |

Re: Guess the Game from the Screenshot
BAM, I know this one! It's Uplink, one of the coolest games ever.
Developed by Introversion, and released on the Mac and PC. It's an RPG. And this doesn't qualify, does it? Too late. Sorry, I don't have any cool screens to post, I pass to whoever wants it, if that's in the rules. Last edited by ghpar4; 03-8-2006 at 08:26 PM.. |
