The second i opened this thing I had a feeling it was going to be an FFflame war in a sense.....
Honestly, i agree that FFVII is over rated. I havn't played through it completely, but the story is good thus far, the game mechanics are balenced, materia system is nice. Sephi is cool and all, but still, i really dont find him to be all that evil. A bit derranged yes, but not neccessarily evil. I hate to bring this up because it might bring up some difference of oppinon, but Kefka as a character was probably a much better villain that Sephi. Sephi burned down a town, tried to make a meteor collide with the world hoping to become one with it, but prolly wuda just ended up killing himself. KEFKA on the other hand poisened an entire castle, got thrown in prison by his own superiors, KILLED the leader of his own nation and screwed up the world, firing lazers of death upon all those who did not obey him (Mobliz looked like crap after what he did to it, flooded and in ruins). Kefka managed to litterally REARRANGE the world. Sephi just looked cool.
now that thats off my chest, ff6 has its downfalls as well. Certain relic combos were just game breaking. dualcast with magic box, dual casting ultima for 1mp each, or better yet cure3 or life3, and then having gogo mimic it. the genji glove combo allowing 8 attacks. the ability for every character to become a healer/attacker/ ultimate mage. it had its fair share of exploits if you had the patience and knew where to look. but the story was amazing (minus the fact there was no ONE main character, which was very different and actually worked out really well) and it had some of the best graphics the SNES ever saw. of course there are other games that arent of the FF series that can be seen as better than ff7 and ff6, hell, even the whole series. so its really all a matter of preferance. I guess my point is everyone has their own oppinons, and the more overblown one side gets, the less their oppinion is taken seriously because its seen as blind fanboyism (which in some cases it is)
