Need advice for learning streams
Title just about says it all! I'm having serious trouble reading streams of any sort mainly fast ones that can be found in songs such as CIA Rave, Horizon Remix, or even {Blaze} considering I've been playing these sorts of songs for about two and a half weeks now.
For all of you out there who have mastered reading stream, is there any advice you can give to me other than the obvious "continual practice"? Lately, I've noticed that I'm improving on all patterns found on FFR except for the dreaded stream which only leaves me worried for how I'll be able to handle jump streams -_- I constantly lose track of where I am in streams and I can't even comprehend streams that have awkward patterns, can anyone give advice? I can read streams up to a certain speed (unsure about the BPM) So I'll give examples of songs with streams I've somewhat mastered Moonbeam Elements and several others.. the only thing is, although I can PA those types of streams, I still have this feeling of "uncomfortably" in my fingers and I get this feeling as if I'm going to break a combo or "fall off" it's unpleasant. Does this feeling ever go away or does it stick and you get used to it? xD Have any of you experienced players gone through this phase (I've been playing for about a total of four months on FFR now) Feel free to share your stories |

Well it's all about not thinking about it. Don't try to comprehend the pattern, just do it.
Do you play spread? Also try the highest speed mod you can still read well.

yeah what blu said. pick the highest speed mod where you can comfortably read the notes without hesitation. what I also recommend is to maybe play the songs that you mastered in mirror so that you get familiar with different patterns but at the same speed.

Re: Need advice for learning streams
if you are one handed, then mastering streams that fast is very hard.
if you are spread, then its just continual practice...I can hit fast streams pretty easy but i fail at PAing it, so yeah, everyones getting better at streams and im falling behind.

It sounds like a problem of reading speed and focus. You'll improve naturally if you stop worrying about it and continue to play with variety. If you really can't stop worrying, try having something distract you while you play. I honestly don't think you will get any better advice.

Re: Need advice for learning streams
I recommend trying to go up a speed, to 2. I play on 2 and i find it helps me read the notes easier. Also, playing index or spread makes a difference. If you play with your 2 index fingers on the arrow keys, thats index, but if you play with your index and middle fingers on A,S,K,L (for example), you play spread.
I find that if you play spread streams are fairly easy. Again, ive had alot of practice with rythm games so i could FC CIA Rave when i just started . I have no idea how to hit them as an indexer other than keep practicing. Streams are really hard as an indexer. |
