actually yes i have(i could beat you any day anyway)... yes speed is a key but some people have speed but cant read basic patterns.also it does matter on how fast you can read the arrows and listen to the beat.(thats the whole point to playing is it not?)
speed matters but you need to know how to use it.
I never said there weren't any people who had speed but couldn't use it well. Of course there are. But my point still stands... Once the song gets fast, you'll need a combination of reading skill AND finger speed.

About you being able to beat me any day, I'm not saying you're wrong. Though I've actually never seen any of your scores, so I'm curious to now. You're a 1 hander right? It seems you'd have to be one of the very best of them then, since I can often match/beat scores by people like Kefit and Kilga... Of course, I use 2 hands, but that doesn't matter since you already said you could beat me at any time. :P

[quote="Tonberry_Kid"]Pros=Like index players, you have good accuracy, decent speed, you can handle rolls(Final Fantasy 7 Battle),gallops are standardly hard(is standardly even a word?(Final Fantasy 7 Battle(again)))

Cons=Itu no wat idk wat frekin hand u use ok ppl say 1 handed is handicaped. well actutally 1 handed is realy hard on some songs(a.k.a flight of the bumble bee) so.. i think 2 handed would be easyer im talking handicaped but who the @#$% cares it there @#$%&*$ choice

So, I was reading about the 1 hand 4 finger spread style (vbnm), and I can't figure out how to set it up in FFR to use that. Is there a way to change the keymapping or can I just not use that style in FFR

Unfortunately R1 (regular FFR) doesn't allow you to joymap the keys. If you play StepMania or R2 though you can joymap the keys. If you want to play Spread, start out by playing regular 4-Finger as most people find it very easy to move to Spread from it.

I would like spread to be made possible sometime in the future. Not likely, though.

It really depends on the type of gallops.

Since I don't know what numbers are for the keys I'll use: L,U,D,R.

If the gallop is: L,U U,R or anything that resembles that pattern indexers need to ethier use one finger to hit the second set, or quickly slide thier fingers around. Ethier way, it's hard to be accurate during them. Most other sets are fine.

omg, one handers please don't come and be like: liek OMG! 1 handuurs roxorz!1. I'm sure there are plenty of threads for that.
you mentioned in the first post that it was a 'small cult' of 1 hand 3 fingers players, when infact the majority of FFR users are using this particular style.

Hops are actually very easy one handed.

In total, it was good, but you didn't give the noobs an idea of how simple it is to play one handed. It's actually really really easy. Besides that, thumbs up.

playong one handed isnt nearly elite or anything...it all depends on the style you are broughy up on. I'm almost as good one handed as I am two handed in FFR.

Maybe I should have been more specific. Small cult of GOOD one handers.

The point is, you play one hand, it will be harder for you to get good. I'm not saying it is impossible but it will take you more time. Stop bringing this up.

Uhh... one handed may be able to keep up with 2 handed for easier stuff, but when you get to harder keyboard files, it becomes a problem. That's pretty hard to dispute, just look at the best one handed scores around. They aren't even CLOSE to the best 2 handers come out with (though that doesn't mean they aren't impressive in their own way).

Like smashman said, it is harder to get good onehanded, whether you've experienced that yourself or not. No offense, but the way you talk about onehanded playing as being "really really easy" leads me to believe that you haven't really hit the stuff that really tests onehanded speed yet... But I think most of the older players would agree that the best onehanders will probably never be as good as the best twohanders...
