Re: FFR: The Phantom Challenge
i still think it would fun if you included a person that aids phantom engler. I still am bored enough to volunteer myself. lmao
Your grammar usage is fine, in my eyes. Go get engler himself if you want a full grammar critique though.

Re: FFR: The Phantom Challenge
Novacaine and Boogiebear come to mind. The former because he was an ass to just about everyone (but you can't group him in with the rest of the noob flamers because he was considered by some to be one of the better indexers), and the latter for being an incorrigible hacker.
Edit: I should probably add that Boogiebear never went after other users, only after "high scores."

Re: FFR: The Phantom Challenge
Those two are perfect. I can add them into the edited version of the story, which I am releasing after I finish the rough draft. =)
Edit: In the second draft, I will include you, buizel, but as rshadow, as it is a much more evil name than what you are using now, and it was what you used at the time when I started this story.

That's fine. May I shorten your name so that it stays somewhat evil? It'd be shortened to Buize or something of the sort.

Re: FFR: The Phantom Challenge
Some assistance on your research into Novacaine, seeing as he has been banned for some time, and as such his posts are a little hard to find:
He basically took any comment aimed at him as an excuse to flame the person who dared to open communication...hell, one time I warned another person not to get into a flame war with this guy, and he turned his flames on me! I remember getting into some exchanges with him...sometimes I laughed, sometimes a dark rage burned inside of me (this was before I knew to not take flames seriously). But nevertheless, there were some who insisted that Novacaine never fired the first shot, but having been the target of his flames multiple times, I would have to disagree. Heck, he even went on MeTrivia once in what I can only assume was an attempt to ban evade. He even went so far as to say that he tried to "publicly lynch" me. As for Boogiebear, well...she types about at badly as your typical newb, if Shashakiro's signature is any evidence, and though she didn't post much (it is my belief that she was busy ban evading/hacking the high scores of various songs), she was doggedly persistent. I seem to recall LD posting at one point how he could just click his middle mouse button and wipe all of her "high scores" at once. Hope that helps you get the next chapter under way quicker. I can't wait to read more.

Update: Just in case if anybody was fearing, the story is not dead. I have been trying to control my newfound addiction to Kongregate, which is why my writing has been dramatically slowed. I do have about a page done for Chapter 16, but there is about another three to five pages to do (estimated).
Sorry for the delay; the show still goes on.

Re: FFR: The Phantom Challenge
Edit: Added part 2 to this post to make it easier on the reader.
Chapter 16: The hum of the laser pistol kept Guido’s focus tight and unmoving. His eyebrows remained at a fixed position as the barrel of the pistol pinpointed Engler’s heart. Trigger finger steady, trigger nerve at the ready. He could see everything in this enhanced mindset. The heat waves. His sweat. Even Engler’s aura, which was currently nearly invisible and rather transparent. Guido was more determined than ever to do his job and rid the world of this plague, this monster. From less than twenty feet away, Engler sensed Guido’s seriousness through his tone of voice, and decided that play time was over for the moment. “I see how this is going down, GuidoHunter.” The bass thumped in Engler’s throat, which worked its usual charm and produced what had to be the lowest and deepest tone known to man. “Just don’t expect me to leave you half dead like I did the kid.” A nod towards the person Engler was talking about revealed GamerShadow’s location, and Guido tilted his head in the slightest manner to center GamerShadow in his view. Guido’s mech’s visor scanned the object, and relayed GamerShadow’s current status in a summarized form. Alive, but unconscious. Serious external damage, some internal power overload. Estimated recovery time: Unknown. Engler’s expression and body tensed up as one as he attacked without warning. Guido felt himself soar back ten feet or so and crash onto the ground hard. Instinctively, he got up, and to his dismay found that Engler had already disappeared. This created an uneasy feeling in the pit of Guido’s stomach as he searched for his target. Luckily, he was able to locate his foe, who had flown up for a strike from above, before a second hit could be landed. Engler’s fist met Guido’s right forearm as an unexpected leg made itself known after being slammed into his head. Guido reeled backwards a few feet from the trick strike, but was able to quickly anticipate Engler’s next move; an uppercut from below. He fired a pistol shot, which Engler, taken by surprise, was unable to avoid. Guido sent his opponent sliding back ten feet with a mighty kick to the face, but Engler was immediately back up for more. Guido swapped his laser pistol cartridge for the lava variant in the brief moment of free time he had, and upon reloading, fired a shot at Engler, who easily strafed around the sluggish projectile, and reacted with a small sphere of shadow energy, which made a feigned curve around a second lava bullet and hit Guido’s pistol, knocking it out of his right hand. Guido growled as he catapulted his right hand into the air, palm open and facing upwards. Immediately, the white light shot down from the heavens and into his hand, leaving the banhammer to rest in all of its glory. “Round two,” Guido announced to his opponent as he lowered his banhammer and grasped it in both hands, “let’s go.” Engler’s eyes narrowed a bit and he entered a defensive stance as Guido rushed over, and upon releasing a mighty roar, swung the banhammer over his head with incredible strength. A massive shockwave rattled the earth below as “PERMA” bled in crimson letters into the soil where Engler’s feet had been. Guido’s eyes shot open wide, the veins becoming clearly defined as he wheeled around, roared once again, and attempted to send Engler flying from his current position with a massive horizontal swing, but to no avail. He had already ducked under the sluggish swing, proving that he had the superior speed of the two, and had tripped Guido, causing him to hit the ground hard once again. Not being one to take such abuse without reaction, Guido powered up his mech even further, and stood up once again, ready for more. Engler silently complied as a kick landed on Guido’s back, but surprisingly, Guido held his ground, and caught his opponent by surprise as he grabbed Engler by the face. Engler immediately shifted into intangibility just as the banhammer was about to grant him a bloody makeover, and dropped down to the ground, where he reformed and released a powerful explosion of shadow energy directly in Guido’s visor. Guido locked his eyes shut as the protective glass as well as the visor itself shattered into innumerable pieces which scattered everywhere. He felt the mech’s circuits breaking down as the suit began to slow to a halt. The crackling and the static from broken wires sent rattling chills down Guido’s spine; the suit breaking down meant nothing but bad news for him. The outside air already had begun to rush into the suit, and Guido was forced to shut down the machine to prevent any electrical hazards from becoming a reality. Engler watched in amusement as Guido separated the individual parts of the suit, throwing them onto the ground piece by piece. When this process was completed, he thrust his right hand into the air, with banhammer in hand, and the weapon disappeared in the same flash of white light. Finally, Guido scowled and tensed himself once again. “You haven’t won yet!” He roared as he slammed his right foot into the ground. Engler had no knowledge of Guido’s abilities beyond those of the mech suit, so when a gigantic earth spear shot out of the ground at his face without warning, he was barely able to escape the killer blow with a desperate leap to his left. After transitioning into a forward roll, and then into a leap whose arc matched that of the moon, Engler’s balance returns to its original stasis. Guido had lost control of his composure at this point, and was fighting with everything he had in order to take Engler down. Rock shards, earth pillars, quicksand. Guido was using every technique he had picked up against Engler. On the unconscious level of his mind, Guido was fading fast. His will alone had survived through the entire fight to be the last driving force that kept him alive. His skin was literally boiling at this point; the air itself seemed to employ itself for one job, and that was to become Guido’s coffin. Guido, who was aware of the fact that he was being exposed to the inescapable hazard, which had been thrust upon him by a case of a freak genetic mutation, was writing in immeasurable amounts of pain. “Damn it,” he cursed inside his head, “I don’t have much longer, and I’m only slipping.” He raised a wall of rock in order to halt an incoming sphere of shadow energy, but his defense failed, and the wall shattered and sent shards of rock and soil flying in various directions as the shadow ball slammed against Guido’s chest and sent him reeling back several feet. Engler watched as Guido attempted to rise to his feet. His arms and legs were trembling with the extreme burden of toppling a titanic fighter, and his skin was literally bubbling; screaming; dying a horrible death. “Fragile sticks trying to support a boulder,” Engler thought to himself, “such a pity that he still tries to fight back when he only has a minute or so to live. I suppose I can cut him a bit of slack. Even I would have killed myself if I were in his position.” He began to walk towards Guido, who was now on the ground, and without smile or frown, showed him the light at the end of the tunnel. An violet ball began to take shape in Engler’s right palm, which was fully extended towards Guido’s face, and a strange crackling snapped through the air as miniscule obsidian thunderbolts circulated around the sphere. Without warning, a sudden explosion of dust and noise clouded the air around Engler, Guido, and GamerShadow as a mysterious figure landed onto the newly formed crater. Guido barely made out the figure from where he laid. “Is that really her?” Guido thought to himself as his eyes began to shut from sheer exhaustion, “Is… that… Stretchy?” “Who’s there?” Engler angrily shouted at the mysterious figure, who remained silent. He could sense the newcomer’s anger being focused and regulated by their purpose, which was coupled with an unknown source of urgency. The scene halted. Nothing moved, save for the cloud of dust, which was diffusing into the air around it. Before Engler could realize what was going on, the figure vanished, reappeared next to GamerShadow, picked him up, warped over to Guido, and picked him up as well. The blazingly quick movements from the figure caused the dust cloud to disperse in all different directions, leaving Engler with a perfectly clear view of the unexpected guest. The first thing that shocked him was that the person was holding up both GamerShadow, and Guido without exerting much effort. To magnify Engler’s shock was the fact that she seemed to be no older than fifteen years of age. The wind tossed her flowing sepia hair in front of her face, but nothing could hide the glare that her brown eyes delivered, which filled Engler with a sense of distress. After a few moments, she spoke with a harsh tone of warning. “The name’s Stretchypanda. Moderator. Twenty three years of age. Don’t forget it.” Without a moment’s hesitation, she jumped up into the air, with GamerShadow and GuidoHunter tossed over each of her shoulders, and vanished. Engler was left alone in the otherwise vacant area, simply standing still. After a moment of contemplation as to what to do next, Engler himself jumped and vanished into thin air. “Perhaps I should relay what has happened to Blazze.” Engler thought to himself, “I might need to change the plan up a bit in order to compensate for the unexpected changes that occurred today.” GamerShadow awoke in an unknown location. The intense incandescent lights, along with the nearly completely white room blinded him and did not allow him to open his eyes to anything more than mere slits. To his dismay, he could not extend his arms completely, nor could he sit up or move his legs. A pair of voices approached the room, and to prevent himself from being found awake, GamerShadow closed his eyes and pretended to sleep, hoping that he was in a bed. He covertly stuck his fingers in his pockets and felt around. After a second of searching, he sighed with relief. The token was still there. He could feel the grooves that imprinted the logo of the FFR world on both the front and the back side, and just below it, also imprinted, was the word "Satori”. The image was referred to simply as the “FFR Guy”, and it served as a logo and a mascot of sorts for the FFR world. Why it existed, GamerShadow did not know, but he knew of the token’s utmost importance. He flipped the token over in his pocket and felt the grooves that spelt out a message that had spoken to him since obtaining the mysterious relic. “Decisions are made with three factors, knowledge, emotions, and desires.” GamerShadow felt the last few words over and over, imprinting their meanings in his mind, and once sated, he sighed. Suddenly, the two voices entered the room. GamerShadow ceased moving his thumb around the token in his pocket, and stayed perfectly still. He tuned into the conversation that the two voices were having, making sure to not move a muscle, or else he would be found out. “Guido.” the first voice sighed. The pitch in the voice was rather high, so GamerShadow took the liberty of assuming that it belonged to a young girl. “Why did you have to go off on your own? Why did you do this? You know that I couldn’t bear to live without you, not if something happened…” A second voice, one that was equally as high in pitch, but softer and gentler, spoke with a reassuring tone. “Don’t worry, Stretchy. Guido will be just fine. He’s going to have to recover for quite a while though, so try not to disturb him too much while he’s recuperating. Still, I’m sorry for what happened.” A squeaking noise soon emitted, which made GamerShadow a bit confused as to what was happening, and his current location. However, the answer to his current questions strangely revealed themselves to him as the token in his pocket inconspicuously glowed with a semi-bright silver aura. “Stretchy’s here. She must be concerned about Guido. And if Guido is here, that means that I am somewhere in the Staff HQ zone. If I had to guess, I’d say I’m in the hospital.” Not knowing that GamerShadow was conscious, Stretchy continued to converse with the voice. “It’s alright, Wind. I was just... worried.” She sighed as Windscarredfaith, the identity of the voice, put her hand on Stretchy’s shoulder. “I’ll see if we can get Jurs. Perhaps she can help Guido. But we have to leave. These two need to get a lot of rest, and we shouldn’t disturb them.” Wind flipped her hair behind her head as she gave Stretchy a reassuring smile, which grew into a wholehearted grin. “Alright,” Stretchy sent a small smile of gratitude back at Wind as she stood up and the bed creaked once again, “Let’s leave then.” The two of them walked outside of the door, which GamerShadow heard being quietly and considerately closed. He waited for a few seconds to make sure that they were gone, and attempted to get his limbs in motion. His first attempt yielded no result, but GamerShadow understood the situation clearly, the token once again glowing. “Numb limbs, most likely by means of injection. It must have worn off in my fingers. Either way, that’s no good. Now I have to move myself with shadows, or...” A better idea popped into GamerShadow’s head as he closed his eyes and focused his power. Within ten seconds, a strange, canary-colored liquid was seeping out of GamerShadow’s pores at an astounding rate. Droplets collected and formed rivulets of yellow, which stained the bed sheets with one gigantic oval. GamerShadow didn’t care; the feeling was already returning to his limbs. He felt like he had been brought back from the dead. It was quite the joyous sensation, and he grinned as soon as he regained full control over his body. “Perfect.” he thought out loud as he rose out of the bed, “However, another attempt to kill Engler would be futile at this point. I should inform Specforces of the situation, and get the TGB Army to assist.” At that moment, GamerShadow shifted into his usual shadow puddle form, and sunk into the ground without so much as a noise.

Re: FFR: The Phantom Challenge
I realize you can't rush genius, but with the Gamewhore Tournament upon us, followed shortly by the official tourney, maybe you could write something to commemorate?
As it is, it looks like Engler has won...I'm quivering in my seat as I'm wondering who, if anyone, is going to save Guido's hide. Damn you and your cliffhangers as you take weeks to come up with the next part. >_< |

Re: FFR: The Phantom Challenge
After taking my leave for what seemed to be months, I decided to check out this thread, expecting it to be dead. Surprisingly, it's better than ever! Awesome job, GS.
