Suggestion: Turning off backrounds/animations
You add an option to turn on/off backgrounds and animations for all songs. Is this a good idea (Y/N)?
I'm looking at you Party4u HolyNightRemix V2. I find it impossible to do good on this song because the annoying animation in the background prevents me from seeing and hitting all the arrows. It's only a 9 step song, so it's not that hard in itself, it's the background that makes it a lot harder. Last edited by ursername; 03-29-2008 at 06:34 AM.. |

Re: Suggestion: Turning off backrounds/animations
The difficulty of the song is partially determined by the fact that the background is distracting. If the background were removed, the difficulty of the song would be lowered several notches.

I'd like it, but I doubt it would be implemented anyways. Also, I'm pretty sure this has been suggested before :\

Like most suggestions dealing with the UI for the game/individual songs, it most certainly has come up before, but that doesn't mean it can't ever be posted again.

Re: Suggestion: Turning off backrounds/animations
Admins generally respond to this question with "wait for 3rd style".
Party4u v2 is a crappy file anyways, just play v3 if you like the song. If you want to play it for level rank reasons, then you're competing against people who have had the same problem as you, so removing the background will only push everyone else's scores higher along with your own.

They don't want this because they want to preserve the history of the game. I guess nostalgia takes precedence over current gameplay.

I agree. Those damned annoying notes get in the way of the background and make it difficult to concentrate on the rabbit.

Re: Suggestion: Turning off backrounds/animations
If anything Id suggest a animation stop, so that the video doesnt play but it is still there
Some difficulty still there in the aspect of seeing the arrows anyway But I like it the way it is, I FCed it

Screw backgrounds, screw history. History is in the past people, erase most of the backgrounds, but keep like 1.

Anyway, that's why there should be an option to turn them on or off, if you like the distracting video, then keep it on. Otherwise, there should be an option to turn it off. |

Re: Suggestion: Turning off backrounds/animations
The song is the song. It's like saying "There should be an option to turn on and off the avmiss fix" Sure, they -could- give people the option, but then they have to deal with the people who say "A BF with the background on is better than a AAA with the background off, we should get a second high-score list" etc etc
Any time people want something game effecting to be opt-in or opt-out we run the risk of creating more divisions between players, and creating a whole mess of whiny threads of people who want a seperate highscore list for the thing they do that makes them feel better than other people who do it the other way. |

Re: Suggestion: Turning off backrounds/animations
I propose we change existing backgrounds to be animated arrows of all colors which move in all directions at all possible speeds (1.0,1.25,1.5,1.75,2.0,3.0). This way you have to figure out which arrows are real or not based on trial and error, and brute memorization.
