I prefer War & Peace to Anna Karenina. I consider it the best book every written.

Re: crime and punishment
I prefer twilight.
In all honesty, War & Peace wasn't interesting to read. I got like 250 pages in and I was like no thanks. I love Victor Hugo, Les Miserables was great. When I was in Choir we sang quite a big of songs from the musical.

I stopped reading your response there. I would normally flame people for liking such tripe, but you're allowed to like what you want. You really just can't compare a young adult cash-in series with great literature. It's apples and oranges.

Re: crime and punishment
Eh if you read on you'd realize I was kidding. I like reading books from all forms of art, I do not however enjoy twilight. I liked vampires, then I hit puberty then I started to read/watch religious movies and books, books about time of war or misfortune. Many of the readings I have done have made huge decisions in my life mainly my religious faith though.

Funny cause I read this book for ap 11. Srs one of the best books I've ever read which is hard to say cause victor hugo's les misérable was really good too.

Re: crime and punishment
Crime and Punishment. The most boring book ever. Way too many details. It's an interesting book when you're analyzing/discussing it.

I agree about the overly detailed aspect of the book; however, those details open up so many possiblities during in class discussion. My favorite topic was the complexities in the whole nihlist theory and how it could tie into elitism.

Re: crime and punishment
This book really is absolutely fantastic. I should type more and express my thoughts but it's late and I'm tired, so I don't wanna say something that might get misinterpreted or something. I'll edit if I remember to.

ps ive never read anna k. haha i was just kidding (even though i have heard it's an excellent book from a few people that i respect very much, so i'll eventually check it out) C&P isn't actually my favorite book - The Glass Bead Game/Magister Ludi by Hesse is. however, C&P made one of the more lasting impressions on me out of any piece of literature. i very much disagree that the book is "too detailed." almost every detail has an intricate place in the psychological analysis that dostoevsky creates; almost no detail truly goes without utilization. i think most people don't like the "detailed" nature of the narrative because their attention spans can't handle his clauses. |
