Default How do you warm up your hands?

First of all, I don't mean warm them up as in get them ready for playing. I mean warm them up as in make their temperature rise.

Maybe it's just me, but when my hands are cold my fingers don't like to move very fast. Living in northern Michigan, it's kind of hard to avoid my hands getting cold when it isn't summer. I also think I have some kind of blood circulation problem because my hands and toes are basically always cold, usually colder than everyone else around me.

Before I left for college, I used to have a heater on the desk constantly blowing on my hands. But now I don't have that heater . Does anybody else run into this problem? And if so, what do you do about it?

Wash your hands with warm water.
Put a warm sponge onto your Artery of the hand.

Worked for me..

All i do is wear a jacket to force myself to heat up while playing stepmania and that eventually warms up my hands.

I never do that, it seems to have inverse effects since air+wet hands = cold, no matter how hot the water was to start with.

@Emo, well yeah, I would have said that, but this is a family forum, women and children are watching. (hide yo kids, hide yo wife)

Well there are a few things that you could do to get your hands to warm up.

If there is any place that is warm, you could always just sit there for a couple minutes, put on a sweater or something while in the warm area, and then you'll be able to retain that heat for a little while if you are somewhere else.

If this is not an option, you could still again put on something like a long sleeve sweatshirt. Making it easier for the body to warm the core will allow for it to give more out to the fingers and toes.

In addition, play a couple of easier songs on FFR to get the circulation going. This will tell the body that you need this portion of the body functioning, and will help you out a bit. I really don't know the average temperatures for where you live, but the colder the surroundings, the longer it will take to allow for your fingers to reach a decent temperature and circulation.

I play in cold temperatures a lot at this point, and this has worked on my end...hopefully you can get something out of it as well.

Playing poorly causes rage which causes me to hit things which makes my hands red and hot.

When I start playing FFR to warm up, I actually start sweating even though my hands remain cold.

The warm water was very temporary, it only lasted a couple songs.

Precipitation is a cooling process, hot water of any kind will be very difficult to use for keeping your hands warm. If you could dry them immediately after possibly, but by the time all the water is removed your hands won't be much warmer than before.

Focus on your fingers and hands, as you play a few songs and increase the difficulty, circulation should automatically increase in them. More blood flow = more warmth.

literally just make friction from your hands by making the motion of starting a fire (idk how to explain that well)

That's what I do before playing a file, and I also crack my fingers idk if that helps or makes things worse. Now, if you regularly play a file with a difficulty of 10 (for example) play files with difficulty of 8-9 and play about 5 or 6 of those files, and make sure you play for accuracy and make loud key taps. You should also keep yourself challenged and play the most difficult files to warm you up faster (jack files, speed files)
