2nd Annual FFRmas Discussion Thread

For those who were around at this time last year, you'll remember the 12 days of FFRmas event that we ran, with 1 new song a day for 12 days leading up to Christmas. Well, we've come a long way since then. I had to beg and scrap to get those 12 files finished on time. Now, we've got well over 100 songs waiting in queue to get into the game. Including widgets, around 600 songs have been added to FFR in the past 12 months. Insane, given there were only about 200 added in the first 4 years.

So today is December 14th, exactly 12 days before Christmas (including the 25th). Since we have so many songs to choose from, and since we did 1 a day last year... We decided to up the stakes a bit. This year, expect a random number of new songs each day (between 2 and 4). So 24 to 48 new files over 12 days. I can tell you that there are 28 different stepfile authors represented in this event and 32 different musical artists. Unbelievable! [Allsongs were selected randomly from the queue, using random.org, with a tiny amount of tweaking on days 11/12 to weed out repetition]
It's a bit of a pain to place songs in the proper location, so all songs will be placed in Hip-Hop for the duration of the event. After it is over, I'll move them to their permanent homes. Anyway... Enough of the history and nostalgia. Let's get on with today's songs!

Only 2 today, but they're quality. Forsaken Neon is an extremely high-tempo techno song by Dimrain47 and stepped by Rebirth0. It is a whopping 230BPM, which poses all kinds of framer issues. There were 2 3-framers in the file, but I tweaked them to 4. A total of 29 4-framers in the finished file. It's a 10 in difficulty. The other song today is Teh Tricky Techno, a short Popeye-esque techno song by old-school artist DJ RageVI and stepped by Xandertrax. Pretty catchy tune and amusing stepfile that I think is a 9. It has jumptrills and 24th rolls worked into some fun 16th stream patterns.

Teh Tricky Techno has some of the most obnoxious patterns I've ever seen. I got 0-0-0-3 on it. That's right, 3 Boos. I just gave up on it, because I couldn't even combo it anymore.

Forsaken Neon is honestly one of the best techno songs ever made. (period)

Teh Tricky Techno is obviously the inferior out of the two files released today IMO. It was as obnoxious to play as it was to listen to. Now, as for Forsaken Neon, I like it. Add it to the pile of "Rebirth files that don't suck." That pile is now overflowing again.

I personally just don't like patterns like the ones in Teh Tricky Techno. Probably because I can't do them. xD

Teh Tricky Techno was annoying, mainly because of the stream pattern.

Forsaken Neon was pretty good, a fun file. Fast tempo and fast stream.

Wow. Teh Tricky Techno is impossible to play index. Patterns are retarded. And playing it spread feels really messed up. Here's another Challenging song to add to my list of songs I absolutely hate.
And Forsaken Neon is too fast for me. Well only on FFR cause of avmisses. Too fast index AND spread. So both of these new songs are terrible for me

I thought both files were fun. Forsaken Neon was bit boring though, not enough fast stream.

Teh Tricky Techno I thought was more fun. The patterns aren't hard for me, I see those kinds in Stepmania often, so I'm used to those. And the song I liked too.
