PS3 or Xbox360
I have an oppertunity to get one of these plus a game, but a lot of people tell different stories about each console, I'm not sure what to get. So I'm asking you guys, what's better to get? I hope I'm not breaking any rules.... This is my second post ^^;;;

Re: PS3 or Xbox360
Well, personally, I'd go with the PS3. That's just because that's what I have and it's never let me down. My brother has gone through 2 X-boxes in the time I've had my PS3, and my PS3 has never funked up on me. It's more expensive, sure, but the online is free. There aren't a lot of great games currently, so really you're investing in potential for future games, but the games they do have are very good. Even though it lacks some exclusive titles (I really wish Mass Effect would be ported) the exclusives PS3 has are pretty great. Heavenly Sword comes to mind - excellent game, chock full of replay value and unlockables. As is Uncharted: Drake's Fortune which is now on my top 5 game list.
The X-box is just a big freaking piece of malfunctioning hardware. I play my brother's, but I don't see myself owning one in the future.

Re: PS3 or Xbox360
PS3 without a doubt. Why? Cos I had 4 360's that all got the RROD on me within the space of a year yet my PS3 has never put a foot wrong. As for not currently many good games for PS3 have you been living under a rock? Call of Duty 4, Fifa 08, GT5: Prologue, Motorstorm, Uncharted, Army of Two, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 the list goes on and on. Yeah we get the odd crap game like Turning Point *shudders* but most PS3 games coming out now are fantastic. Also with blu-ray winning the format war it shows Sony know which horse to bet on.
Lets not forget we have Metal Gear Solid 4, Haze, Killzone 2, Final Fantasy, Motorstorm 2 and more all on the way. You get what you pay for thats why Xbox is so cheap cos it will die on you sooner or later. Last edited by RYPW; 04-6-2008 at 01:28 AM.. |

Also, blu-ray is only useful if you can blow a ton of money for an HDTV. |

In all honesty, HDTVs are getting less and less expensive. Sure, the larger ones are still pretty costly, but when you get into the smallest HDTV size range, they can be pretty reasonable.

Re: PS3 or Xbox360
Its close... PS3 is incredibly larger than I first thought it was. It also doesn't have as many good games as i thought... Graphics leave something to be desired as well... but PS3 comes with a ton of extra features, a handful of good games, but hardly any good exclusives as well.
Xbox 360 looks pretty lame, but its portable enough to get it around. It still crashes like once a month, but its still pretty good. Xbox 360 also has a wider array of good games, XBL is relatively popular and extremely fun. To me, Xbox is renowned for its kick-ass games and playability, but PS3 is known for its outstanding features... I'll have to go with the Xbox. And to the people complaining about the RROD - Tried keeping it in a open area so it can vent properly? And don't move it around suddenly, especially if it has a game in it... Be gentle. |

And here I buy game systems that don't break every month or so. Silly me to want to actually have something to play the games on.

And I've had it for more than a year now. Plus, I actually have games for it. If I had the PS3, all I would use it for would be the DVD player, because it has all **** games. |

My brother is on his second, my friend is on his fourth, my other friend is on his sixth.
So, I think they far outweight the single sturdy system you own.

Re: PS3 or Xbox360
Maybe your friend shouldn't play with four discs in the holder at once.

Re: PS3 or Xbox360
Both has strengths and weaknesses. Personnally, I'd go for the 360, but don't take my opinion into account since I don't own a PS3. Graphics seems the same, but PS3 has Blu-ray and never craps out on you (unless you are really unlucky and it was already defected), but the 360 has a wide variety of games, most of them are Live enabled.

Re: PS3 or Xbox360
Only reason why the 3****ty has better games is because its been out for longer and stupid people don't notice that. The ps3 online is FREE, might as well waste some extra cash to get one cause the more you pay for xbox live then the more you'll see that you waste more money on the 3****ty than the ps3, so it comes to the question.... which one is the real money spender? I myself own a ps3 so anyone wanna hit it up on Resistance or anything (Ill buy it to kick your ass) then add me Fluff_Daddy

Xbox's Games (IMO) are largely based on marketing, now you can argue that of course that's why. My only problem here is outta the 30-40 exclusives I've played, not one really comes to mind that I can enjoy "sober" then again games are always more appealing in a state of euphoria. Also given that I'm in love with RPGs (Before you say anything LO sucked hardcore...I watched my friend get up to the 3rd Disc and I was still like "when does it get good O_o?"). I'd have to say Halo 3 (1 & 2 were fine I guess) and Gears are among the worst games I've ever played -_-. Now I can't stick up for the PS3 but I know Sony loves the RPG market and like I said before I'm REALLY big into them so I guess you could say Xbox not putting out enough RPGs or games that require being smart over using brute force. Now the games that I did enjoy for the Xbox were all multi-console so I can't really say much on that as to whether it's better than the other...I don't know why but for me Burnout was better on the Playstation then the xbox...maybe it was the controls...idk...just something struck with that, and DMC4 was WAY better on the PS3 but that's deff. cause of the ease of the controls with PS over Xbox. Hardware wise they are like the same-ish, only like my sister, Xbox tends to whore it self and not produce much results, but that's okay cause the buyers didn't have much sense anyway. PS3 is expensive but I really haven't heard complaints of it crapping out to much, feature on it are a lot better, Xbox is easier to use (I never got to check if PS3 does it [probably does]) but I liked how Xbox allowed you to use your PC/w/e to hook up to your media library, and/or use your iPod or other device...that was a big plus for me. Price is nice too (on the Xbox), but PS3 (like Mal said) is basically an investment for the future, basically in stock terms your speculating that it'll become amazing and not just die and make you go bankrupt. Can't say Sony has really done anything to really prove it isn't (FinalFantasy of course but that's the Halo of Playstation, unlike Halo 3 though, Final Fantasy is sure not to suck so much by sticking parts of another game into the fkn story >!!!!! Sorry I still haven't gotten over that b/s commercial. Have you looked into getting a WII perhaps? I know they're hard to get a hold of...but they're pretty fun if you're just looking for something to screw around with :]! |

Re: PS3 or Xbox360
I got a Wii and a PS3, I'll never own an Xbox 360 unless I get it for free so i can sell it to some microsoft nerd.
The only reason Xbox has so many people thinking it's the best is because it's Microsoft. Every computer geek or computer gamer buys an Xbox because it's made by the same company as their comp games :X.

PS3 is selling well in Japan because of the RPGs that dominates it in their games, which is Japan's taste in games. Though not many of their exclusives are compatible online, the online service is free. It looks nice itself too, and, as I said before, it uses the Blu-ray disc for games. Don't compare these two in terms of HD graphics. They both look the same. If different, it's unnoticable, just don't go out and bluntly say that one system is better than the other because you don't own the system yourself. That's how I was.
