Shiny Pokemon
So, knowing that the ratio of finding a "shiny" pokemon is 1 out of 8912, would it be possible to hatch a "shiny" pokemon?
Edit: I forgot to add that I am talking about Diamond and Pearl Through some research, I found that hatching a shiny pokemon has the same ratio of finding a shiny. I also found out a guy on youtube took over 3,000 soft resets over an average of 2-3 days in order to encounter just one shiny legendary. I am also aware of the other forms of finding shinies, such as chaining. What I have done is saved 1 step before the egg has hatched. So, everytime I take a step, it hatches and I get to view the pokemon. I soft reset and repeat this process until I finally find what I am looking for. Here's the problem, can I continuously soft reset on one egg or do I have to keep on breeding eggs? Edit: Upon further research, I have found out that, yes, it is possible to hatch a shiny pokemon, because it does have the same ratio (1/8912). What is also interesting is that having a shiny parent may increase the chances of recieving shiny baby.

Way to go on doing the research yourself. Now turn it in to Serebii or something so you can contribute to the amount of useless knowledge in the world. :P

Re: Shiny Pokemon
I have a shiny Ponyta, Rapidash, Gyrados, and Magikarp. I bred the Magikarp and evolved the Rapidash. I have some other shinies, but they're not worth talking about (i.e. Bugs, useless fish, etc). It's not hard to gain them, play two games simultaneously.

Re: Shiny Pokemon
lol I used to be a shiny freak in the r/s/e days. I had about 82 of em; I always soft reset on legendaries until they are shiny.
Btw, having a shiny parent does not increase shiny baby probability. |

Re: Shiny Pokemon
Funny, I've played Pokemon for years and never have I encountered a pokemon that was shiny other than a Silver Marowak or a Red Garydose.
