Board games
I just wanted to post a thread to see if anyone was interested in probably my current favorite hobby, board/card games. I am going to GenCon this year demoing games for Days of Wonder/Asmodee games, should be a great time.
My current collection is here I tend to love euro style games, with Keyflower being my absolute favorite. If any of you have not really played any modern board games, I recommend starting with something simple like Carcassonne, or picking up a great party game, like Codenames. |

Re: Board games
I don't think I'm in any of the DoW demo slots, maybe we'll cross paths at some point, most of my weekend is board-game related.
I'd say my top 5 boardgames right now in no particular order are: Arkham Horror Lords of Waterdeep Letter Tycoon Mansions of Madness X-wing |

I went in 2013 and it was pretty spectacular. You'll have a ton of fun.

Re: Board games
Can't stand Flux. You basically have to have a new wincon and all the cards for the wincon in your hand at once to actually have any semblance of strategy. Too random for me to like.
Also can only tolerate CAH. Annoyance at their being allowed to just rip off Apples to Apples aside, as a source of entertainment it's almost an insult to anybody who writes comedy. It is based entirely on the idea that just mashing taboos together makes comedy. For a given group, one game is about all that works well. Betrayal at House on the Hill is fantastic, in the same school as what makes Mansions of Madness fantastic, though I do prefer co-op games that stay co-op: Arkham Horror, Forbidden Island/Desert, etc. |

Re: Board games
Well, I just got back from a meetup, and I got some new stuff. A friend of mine is moving away and she is trimming down her game collection, she just gave me Tzolkin, Castles of Burgundy, and Lords of Waterdeep for free, aw yeah.
