Answer this, since you seem to enjoy taking things to their extreme: Would you like to spend the rest of your days thinking about we're all fucked and there's nothing we can do, sitting around depressed just waiting for the end, or are you guys to acknowledge the fact that it will happen, and instead of sulking, make an effort to enjoy the time you have left and prolong the end for as long as possible? Try to at least look for positive things once in a while, and maybe everything will be a little less depressing. On a much less extreme note: We're worried about this because Twitch is one of our main sources of entertainment, and it's going to end up like Youtube as well, doomed to the fate of being ruled under Google. We're talking about how if there's a chance we can help stop it, we'll take it, because we don't want it to happen, as we want to keep twitch out of Google's hands instead of sitting around letting the world go by right in front of it. Believe me, the world will keep on turning if you don't do anything. It'll keep turning if you do something, too. But nothing will improve if you sit around waiting either for someone else to do your work or waiting simply for things to end or go away. Do yourself a favor, don't only make room for the negatives in your mind. You're tunnelvision-ing and you're not helping yourself. /semi-relevant rant

Re: Youtube to buy Twitch for $1 billion
Whether or not it's "Youtube" or "Google" is irrelevant because it is all owned by the same entity, and that is Google. There isn't really any need to argue against the arbitrary.
Here is another source for you that states the company acquiring Twitch is indeed "Google" if semantics really mean that much to you: http://www.theguardian.com/technolog...ing-twitch-1bn

Re: Youtube to buy Twitch for $1 billion
lol the moment twitch becomes mainstream with ps4's automatic streaming and twitch plays pokemon, I knew something bad was gonna happen, just didn't expect a buyout from youtube.

Re: Youtube to buy Twitch for $1 billion
Also, one of the reasons I believe this and the threat to Net Neutrality go hand in hand is because Google is also a provider in the sense that they have Google Fiber technology under their belt. The ground rules for freedom need to be spelled out for your 60+ year old congress men and constituents who have no idea how the Internet actually works; and they are only going to go in the direction of the money coming from companies like Comcast and Verizon (Who also has FiOS, by the way).
Basically just plug in your location at this website here: http://www.contactingthecongress.org/ And send them an e-mail (Be courteous, there are a lot of examples out there). And also call the FCC while you're at it (borrowed from Reddit): Quote:

The FCC Just Approved A Proposal That Will Completely Change The Internet As We Know It - the fcc approves "internet fast lane" http://www.businessinsider.com/the-f...st-lane-2014-5 also i dont think that people realize that all these major changes regarding the internet issues going on in america are going to affect those outside of america as well. back on topic of google/youtube & twitch.. TotalBiscuit discusses the acquisition, and it is a very very interesting listen:
