corvette c5 with a lingenfelter stage 3 kit. Its the fastest street legal car with a twin turbo 427 v8 and a record breaking 0-60 in 1.9 seconds on street legal tires.

and 100% street legal. Would run you a cool $150k for the c5 and the Lingenfelter kit when all is said and done

yes, and the GT doesnt post track record near as impressive either. But I will give it to the GT that it is much more impressive aesthetically. A very beautiful car. Beats the pants off my saturn.

And it's by Ford, which isn't known in anything having to do with sports cars. And the Mustang has a weak V8, so I barely consider it a sports car.
